You know when you babysit a kid, and then their family moves away and 15 years later you run into him and he’s a full-on adult? That’s how I felt watching this clip of Aaron Paul.

Clearly, marriage suits him very well. He looks happy and grown-up – he’s been busy with Need for Speed since the last episodes Breaking Bad wrapped and has a huge amount of press to do before the August 11 premiere date.

In this very funny Conan clip, he talks a lot about swears. Growing up with a minister for a father and saying “F-U Man” in his mid-20s instead of the traditional “F-ck you”, now people yell “Bitch!” at him as a term of endearment. And he yells back!

Of course, bitch is Jesse’s thing: “Gatorade me, bitch!” “Yeah bitch! Magnets!” It’s not just on the street – I’ve seen people asking for the Jesse Pinkman treatment on Twitter, too. Aaron will “Bitch” as many people as he can (even husbands who want it for their wives – my husband would totally do that). Yes this is funny and great, not just because people want to be called bitch, but because he’s legitimately enthusiastic about.

As we’ve seen time and again, many actors (and musicians) want to turn away from the very role or song or catchphrase that made them famous. They don’t want to be pigeonholed, or tied down to something that stifles their artistic growth. Aaron has no such qualms, probably for two reasons: 1. He’s grateful for being Jesse and 2. If you are going to be tied to a show or character forever, you could do a hell of a lot worse than Jesse Pinkman and Breaking Bad.

Am I totally naïve to think that 10 years from now, Aaron will still be ok with the occasional “Bitch!”? Unless time and success turn him from Hugh Jackman to Bruce Willis, he seems like the type who would always take it with a smile (even when he doesn’t necessarily feel like it).

August 11, Bitches! If Lainey gets a screener, I will kidnap Marcus or Barney until she hands it over.

(Here’s a new mash-up trailer from Comic Con – beware MAJOR SPOILERS. Also attached, Aaron and the Breaking Bad cast at the premiere this week.
