But without George Lucas this time. Does that make it better? It’s interesting that in the last decade Harrison Ford has revisited his two most beloved characters, Han Solo and Indiana Jones, and it turned out so wildly different. Everyone loved Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, particularly because the character got the heroic end he always deserved—he should have died in Return of the Jedi—but Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull almost destroyed Indy’s legacy. Full Story

New New Star Wars covers Rolling Stone this month, and it features an interview with ole grumpy guts himself, Harrison Ford. Or, as he reveals he once wanted to be called—Kurt Affair. KURT AFFAIR. Let that sink in. Apparently Ford was once advised to change his name as a young actor, so he suggested “Kurt Affair” as his nom de plume, and the studio executives decided that “Harrison Ford” wasn’t so bad after all. Full Story

Oh come on. You didn’t have a crush on Luke Skywalker? Fine. I did. Bad. In a pre-puberty way, I think, but still, it was a crush. Look at him back then! He was what a crush was supposed to look like. And you were too young to be annoyed by his f-cking whining. When he was bounding through the marsh while training with Yoda in a tank top and you didn’t know why you needed to close your legs?  Full Story

Johnny Depp showed up at Disney’s D23 this weekend to promote Pirates 5. On Friday he wore regular clothes, and by regular clothes, I mean a shirt and a vest and some necklaces – but not too many – and a jacket on top and, to me, he’s starting to look like Walt Disney. I can’t look too long at his face. Full Story

On Friday at Comic-Con, JJ Abrams took the stage along with LucasFilm chief Kathleen Kennedy and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan and proceeded to blow the doors off the place. As promised, they did not show new footage, not exactly. Instead Abrams had a sizzle reel that had 6,500 hundred nerds weeping and screaming. Full Story

For a movie that features a protagonist who boned two members of the same family, The Age of Adaline is incredibly boring. There’s so much potential drama to fuel the story of a woman who doesn’t age, and who, it is implied, has left a string of lovers spanning a century behind her, but Adaline is hell-bent on being the least interesting version of that story, more interested in presenting the titular Adaline (Blake Lively, in her first role since 2012’s Savages) as a proper lady who has weathered the century unchanging. Full Story

Blade Runner is a classic. Arguably, it’s a masterpiece. But it’s from 1982, which means it must be revisited/reimagined for a contemporary audience because pop culture is a ravenous beast that survives on nostalgia and memes. Rumors of a potential Blade Runner sequel have been swirling for the last few years, and yesterday it was confirmed—Blade Runner 2 is happening and Harrison Ford will return to star as Deckard, one of the most mysterious protagonists in cinema. Full Story

Star Wars has a stupid title

There’s an epidemic in Hollywood, a rash spreading through production offices like a bad case of pink eye, and it’s the trend of dumb subtitles given to franchise pictures. My #1 stupid title punching bag is Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which I call Superhero Face Punch because that is clearly a better, more to-the-point title. Full Story

A couple weeks ago, Harrison Ford, who is seventy-one, broke his ankle when a door on the Millennium Falcon set fell on him. At first it was made to sound like no big deal, but over the last couple weeks, rumors have swirled as to the true extent of his injury—maybe he hurt his hip as well, or broke some ribs, or shattered into hundred thousand pieces like glass. Full Story

All your nightmares are coming true. In a move that surprised no one, Disney chief Bob Iger announced that not only are they continuing Star Wars with Episode VII, but they’ll also make spin-off films of popular characters. EW is reporting that two of the projects are centered on the origin story of Han Solo and a “bounty hunter adventure” starring Boba Fett (the guy who hands Han over to Jabba the Hutt at the end of Empire Strikes Back). Full Story
