Deep Thoughts on Chris Evans
I have always liked Chris Evans. In my early days writing for LaineyGossip, I took a lot of sh*t from Lainey for liking him, but I think maybe she’s starting to come around. He’s a low-key guy, good looking but not obnoxious about it, and thanks to the career intervention of Marvel and Captain America, he’s finally in some movies that aren’t embarrassing to be caught seeing in public. Vanity Fair doesn’t care about Tom Cruise
Wenn, Fame/Flynet, Splash, Neilson Barnard/ STAN HONDA/ Getty
This is the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair -- a beautiful, perfectly complexioned, soft-eyed Katie Holmes looks out at us above a headline about WHAT SHE DIDN’T KNOW, followed by these magic words: Marriage, Scientology-style Brilliant, non? It’s like... the Chanel of tabloid covers. Full Story
Jim Carrey’s rebound
SPW/Splash
I was a big fan of Jim Carrey when I was a kid. In Living Color was one of my touchstones, one of my earliest influences and it (and Kids in the Hall--hands down, Canada’s most important cultural export besides Strange Brew) was one of the first things that made me want to be a comedian. I loved Carrey on that show. Full Story
Lauren Conrad on books, portion control, and editing
I love people’s inexplicable celebrity follows. They’re not crushes, they may not even be people you like, but you follow them without realizing you’re doing it, spit out their resume without thinking every time someone idly wonders “whatever happened to”, and it inevitably proves to be embarrassing… As evidenced by the fact that I need to scream for a minute about Lauren Conrad. A Study in the Second Act: Kevin Costner
He was one of the biggest stars on the planet in the 1990s, not only bankable as an actor but as a director, too, courtesy the success of Dances with Wolves. Through 1994, Kevin Costner was king. But then came Waterworld—at the time, the most expensive movie ever made—which was disastrously bad and while it has ultimately made money, it was labelled a “bomb” because of its poor domestic box office. Miley’s rite of passage
Breaking... Miley Cyrus cut her hair. Drastically. It was a trending topic worldwide on Twitter yesterday, largely encouraged by Miley herself who first posted the before and after shots, and is continuing to post photos from every angle, much like we all do when we have our makeup done, or our hair styled, and can’t stop looking in the mirror -- only our mirrors don’t talk back; her mirror is an online audience that can and will throw sh-t back in the reflection. Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher: Mission Impossible?
The Jack Reacher trailer has been released. And what timing too. More on this in a minute... But what’s with the music? Just me or does it sound like Mission: Impossible? So Tom Cruise is supposed to be a badass. Righteous. Able to take on several thugs all by himself. And f-ck a broad on the side. Full Story
If Gwyneth ranked her friends
Wenn, WeirPhotos/Splash
Gwyneth couldn’t hold Cameron Diaz’s hand last night for too long because she had to hang out with former President Bill Clinton at the Clinton Foundation Millennium Network in London. She wore a f-cking AMAZING white brocade-ish (can we call it that? or is it more like lace overlay?) situation over white tuxedo pants. Full Story
Miley Cyrus for American Idol?
Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images, FameFlynet
I love the look of a jacket dress and nothing else. If I had reason to, and breasts that could stand on their own like that, I would do the same. The problem here is the hair. She's grown up enough with the bare chest, she doesn't need to add another 20 years to herself with a middle-aged blow out and much, MUCH too much eye makeup. Full Story
The Marriage Obituary
Marquez / Splash News
Jada Pinkett-Smith looked really great walking around New York yesterday. I’m mostly referring to her clothes because I want my pants to fit like that. Her daughter, Willow, was also seen in NYC on Thursday (though they were not together) hopping around on some inspired footwear apparently on her way to visit with the Blue Ivy Carter. Full Story
Class Assignment: Joel Madden’s denial
Roshan Perera/Splash
In Touch Weekly, apparently on a roll this week, reported in their new issue that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are having marital problems. Joel has committed to The Voice in Australia. Supposedly Nicole is pissed because they’ll be apart. The real reason?Nicole and Joel haven’t shown up on a red carpet together in over 6 months. Full Story
From rom-com to action
Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy went out for a walk today in London. Cute, right? I like her ring more than Jessica Biel’s. Kate is expected to start shooting her next film, Everly, in May. She plays a woman hunted down by a gangster who happens to be her former lover. He sends all his top guns to kill her. Full Story
Denzel & Ryan in New York, no Blake
Wenn, Jamie McCarthy/Getty
Denzel Washington, joined by wife Pauletta, and Ryan Reynolds were in New York last night for the premiere of Safe House which opens on Friday. No sign of Blake Lively. Like, not even a “caught entering through a side door” situation. How’s this? Somehow Blake and Ryan were found kissing in a small town in Utah. Full Story
Stop this gross
Wenn, Charley Gallay/Getty
Two things are grossing me out. Two women are slumming. JLo’s oversize basecap worn to the side lover Casper Smart tweeted the other day seemingly in the face of criticism from bitches like me about the fact that she’s romancing below her station:Age, status, n opinions of others are irrelevant.
