I always forget that Scarlett Johansson is a twin. Here she is with her twin brother Hunter Johansson last night at a Hurricane Sandy benefit in New York. Do you have twin fascination? Duana is really, really into twins. Twins are one of (two of?) the most intriguing human occurrences, non? That’s pretty much why I was so into Sweet Valley High as a kid. Full Story
Let’s talk about the name Scarlett. In 1984, when Johansson was born, it was pretty rare. Like non-existent. Nobody had the name. I know what that’s like. TIFF 2014 opens tomorrow. Sarah’s preview for the festival will be posted shortly as an advance overview of the entire event. But the gala on Thursday night belongs to The Judge. Lucy exceeded expectations at the box office, coming in at #1 with almost $45 million and overpowering Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s Hercules. And this just a couple of weeks after Sarah posted this article Full Story
Scarlett Johansson’s Lucy was originally scheduled to open later. But, as Sarah wrote back in May, the studio moved up the release date to avoid Guardians Of The Galaxy. And it was the right move. Because Scarjo took out The Rock!
$44 million! Do you remember even seeing a red carpet or any kind of publicity tour for that film? Nope. She’s pregnant. She hasn’t been hustling. And the reviews weren’t great for Lucy either. But reviews aren’t great for many male-driven action movies. So if doesn’t matter for the men, why should it matter for the women?
Few women can topline this kind of feature. Read Full Intro
With Warner Brothers electing to save Batman vs. Superman for next summer’s Comic-Con, this summer’s convention belongs squarely to the other superhero orgy in our lives, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. To that end, Entertainment Weekly is featuring a first look at Ultron on the cover of its Comic-Con preview issue, and it is very, very cool. Full Story
Scarlett Johansson has a movie coming out later this summer, Lucy, and it looks pretty cool. It was originally slated to come out on August 8th, which made a lot of sense. The movie looks entertaining, if not actually good, and those kinds of softy action films usually do pretty well in the slightly less competitive month of August. Full Story
