As you know, we have a lot of love for Shonda Rhimes here. Normally it’s Duana who gets to hog on loving Shonda. But she’s busy today. So I’m stealing this one from her and it’s big. Last night Shonda was named to the National Association of Broadcasting Hall Of Fame. And it’s not like I have to explain why but I will anyway: what would ABC be with Shondaland? There would be no TGIT. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

The MTV Movie Awards are on Sunday.

Um. Game Of Thrones premieres on Sunday on both HBO and HBO Canada. FINALLY.

FINALLY! You wait 10 months to watch for only 10 weeks.

So this isn’t a conversation. Watch GOT and Mad Men first. And then hit the internet or Twitter the next morning to catch up on the Movie Awards. That’s the game plan. Because there is nothing that will happen at MTV that you can’t watch on PVR later. You don’t have to see Shailene Woodley accept her Trailblazer Award live. But you DO want to see those dragons as soon as possible.

Have a great weekend!

Yours in gossip,

Lainey

Yesterday was a good day for TV trailers – first there was Orange is the New Black, then True Detective season 2 with Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams looking hot (will they just hook up already). There was also a trailer for Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s new show, Grace and Frankie. Full Story

I felt about the first season of True Detective the way I feel about Iggy Azalea: didn’t care. In fact, the only time I cared was when Cary Fukunaga won the Emmy. Duana and I have been yelled at a lot about this. And we get it. You loved the show. But for us, there was no draw. Sorry. Can we make up now though? Because I am interested in Season 2. Full Story

“I want to act for the rest of my life. I’ll win an Oscar one day, but I’m in no rush to get there. I don’t care if that takes me 50 years, and I’m old. I just love what I do.” – what Kellan Lutz said in 2012, click here Full Story

This is not a joke. The movie, expected to air this summer, is about a couple who take care of a pregnant woman in the hopes of adopting her baby only to have it all go horribly awry. It’s described as a “wink” at the genre, the genre being Lifetime movies, which…yeah that is a genre by this point. Full Story

Well, Deadline has apologized by not apologizing, so it’s time to pretend that the NBC musical that was announced yesterday, The Wiz, isn’t totally a reactive, opportunistic move to make them look like they’re on the side of the good guys. Full Story

Trevor Noah to take over The Daily Show

In February Jon Stewart announced he will be retiring from The Daily Show later this year, and now it’s become official that his replacement will be South African comedian Trevor Noah. There’s still no date for Stewart’s retirement beyond “later this year”, but when he does go, Noah will take over his chair. Full Story

I can’t say it enough, how proud I am of my friend Dan Levy who created Schitt’s Creek. And wrote it. And stars. And is the showrunner. PS. Dan is only 31. I hate him! While I obsessively watch him, week after week, because I need everything he wears in every f-cking episode. Next time you hear someone say “black is boring”? Introduce them to the way Dan styles a character. Full Story

I was wondering why there were all these horny women standing outside our building this morning… Sam Heughan was at etalk today. I walked by on my way to pee and recognised the hair. The interview will air on April 7th. Discussion points: his charitable contributions, his upcoming projects, Scotland, his fans (they call themselves Heughlihans, OMG), and “knee porn”. Full Story

Duana’s (snarky screenwriter) take Oh NO, you guys, terrible news! It seems that Hollywood has gotten a clue, based on how Shondaland kills everything in its path on Thursday nights, how well Jane The Virgin has done, and how Empire has JUGGERNAUTED its way through season one. Hollywood has decided that this pilot season, they should be looking for diversity. Full Story

Deadline published a disgusting article meant to make us mad

Sarah’s (snarky blogger) take Yesterday evening an article by Nellie Andreeva was posted on the industry trade website Deadline—formerly the bastion of hard-edged news harpy Nikki Finke—positing that the current pilot season is shaping up to be the most diverse in recent memory, maybe ever, with more roles opening up to “ethnic actors” following the success of shows like Empire, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Black-ish. Full Story

The Royals 1.1: “The Queen knows everything”

The job of a pilot is to introduce the major characters, set up the primary conflict, and then hook the audience into coming back for more. The Royals succeeds at all of these things, and surprisingly it’s not as soapy as I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a still a soap opera, and the pilot gives me serious OC vibes, particularly at the beginning. Full Story

Mad Men - Beginning of the End

Duana Posted by Duana

There will be many, many Mad Men pieces in the next few months as the show finally closes. Seven episodes left to finish what Don Draper started years ago when he tried to figure out why that waiter wouldn’t switch to Lucky Strike cigarettes. And I’ll write some, and everyone else will, as we try to figure out why the show resonates so much with so many of us. Full Story
