Totally forgot about The Wolverine
When Lainey asked if I wanted to write about The Wolverine’s new trailer, I had a moment of, “What is she talking about…?” and then I remembered Hugh Jackman’s new movie, due in July. But I forgot about it. I even wrote about the first Full Story
Hugh Jackman’s passion
Is playing Wolverine. No seriously. It is. It’s his life’s work. And you know what? He’s really, really good at it. Jackman has been, even through the awfulness of X-Men 3 and the unspeakable horror of Wolverine: Origins, the perfect Wolverine. But the material was definitely going sideways on him. Full Story
Worst Oscar Hair Date: Hugh Jackman & Deborra Lee-Furness

I feel like an asshole. It takes an asshole to not throw anything but love towards Hugh Jackman. But that ponytail. Do we just ignore the ponytail? We first saw the ponytail in the etalk control room while watching the pool feed during arrivals and…well… it was a collective groan. Because no one wants to sh-t on Hugh or near him. Full Story
Annie to sing again
Nikki Nelson /WENN, Doug Meszler /Splash News
As mentioned earlier, Anne Hathaway will perform as part of the Les Miserables ensemble at the Oscars on Sunday. Annie sings again at the Oscars! She sang two years ago when she co-hosted with James Franco. She sang four years ago when Hugh Jackman hosted and pulled her up on stage. I always loved it when she talked-sang the line “Frank Langella was sitting next to me”. Full Story
Is Hugh gaining on DDL?
ROBYN BECK/ Kevin Winter/ Getty
It was always a long-shot, my prediction that Hugh Jackman will win Best Actor for Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. If it were any other year, a non-DDL year, his chances would be a lot better. But, well, you know Daniel Day-Lewis. Still... I’m staying with my bet. Full Story
Globes Best “Babe”: Hugh Jackman
ROBYN BECK/ Paul A. Hebert/ Kevin Winter/ Getty
Why doesn’t it sound cheesy and skeevy when Hugh Jackman says it? When he repeatedly refers to his wife as “babe” up on stage, why is it that he can do this without making us cringe? Oh the power of Hugh Jackman. But before we gush about Hugh Jackman, can we please applaud everyone last night for calling it by its proper name: LES MISERABLES!?! There were hardly any instances of the dreaded “Les Mis”! Please click here Full Story
The case against Les Miserables
Doug Meszler /Splash News
Many of you have emailed to fret about some of the reviews. Les Miserables is currently sitting at 72% on Rotten Tomatoes and 61% on Metacritic which doesn’t suck, no, but there have indeed been certain critics who’ve been vicious in their disdain: it’s so melodramatic, and amateurishly so; there are too many close-up shots when people are singing; there is too much singing. Annie and her underwear
C.Smith /WENN
I’m not posting the pictures. It’s really not all that interesting to me. And, frankly, the suggestion that she did it on purpose for her Oscar campaign is... really dumb. How could that possibly, possibly be part of an Oscar campaign strategy...? Why would seeing pap shots of Anne Hathaway’s pussy convince those old fart Academy members in Palm Springs -- who picked Crash over Brokeback, REMEMBER??? -- to vote for her? If, that is, they actually voted themselves. Full Story
2012 according to The Actors
Joseph Marzullo /WENN
And The Actor goes to... Well, definitely not Joaquin Phoenix. He did say he didn’t want any awards. And even though he backtracked - just a little - the Screen Actors Guild took him at his word. Full Story
When Hugh sings with Russell
Splash, Michael Carpenter/WENN
Russell Crowe has been performing with Alan Doyle in New York on the weekends and on Saturday night they were at Joe’s Pub and this time Hugh Jackman was in the house so Russell asked him up on stage for The Confrontation and ...I actually might like this version better than the one in the movie. Les Miserables: an underdog?
LEON NEAL/ Stuart Wilson/ Getty
The new issue of The Hollywood Reporter features Les Miserables -- its film history, the journey of this particular iteration under the direction of Tom Hooper, the production, and the cast. The story that’s told, at least at the beginning of the article, Nate Silver reference notwithstanding, is that this was always a risk. Full Story
Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean

As mentioned yesterday, I screened Les Miserables in New York on the weekend but reviews are embargoed until closer to the release date. We are allowed however to post reaction to the film. My reaction is that I ugly-cried HARD. And that I love Hugh Jackman. People keep talking about how much weight Anne Hathaway lost to play Fantine. Full Story
Catwoman, Wolverine, and Red Riding Hood

At the premiere of my favourite movie of the year in Tokyo tonight as they make their way around the world, closer and closer to Christmas Day, as we wait impatiently ... At The Barricade! And then en route to Hollywood & Highland, the Dolby Theatre to fight it out with Argo and Lincoln. Since its screenings last weekend, according to expert “Oscarologist” predictions, Les Miserables has moved ahead of Argo and Lincoln. Full Story
Everybody sings!
Duana left early this morning for a meeting and then I rushed off to the airport to come to New York so... We didn’t get to watch this new Les Miserables trailer together holding hands! We didn’t get to watch this new Les Miserables trailer together and cry! This time they all sing. Full Story
