Late last week Pajiba published an open letter, penned by an alleged former Warner Brothers staffer using the pseudonym “Gracie Law” (a character name from Big Trouble in Little China). Presumably this was done to protect someone still working in the industry, or with hopes of returning to the industry, and as The Warner Brothers Open Letter gained steam across the internet, two responses emerged: Either this is a scathing take-down of corporate Hollywood, or “Gracie Law” is not real or never had the kind of access at Warners that would give her context for the creative decision-making at the studio, which just saw its second DC Films title open big only to plummet in week two Full Story

Suicide Squad shattered the August box office records, raking in $135 million for the biggest August opening weekend, breaking Guardians of the Galaxy’s previous record of $94.1 million. (And oh, is everyone at Warner Brothers ecstatic to take down a Marvel record.) Box office numbers can mean anything you want them to mean, and devoid of any context, $135 million is a GREAT opening weekend—the X-Men would have killed for this number—and everyone likes the “record breaking” headlines. Full Story

A report on Page Six came out last night that Disney is in a “panic” over Stars Wars: Rogue One not testing well, and has ordered four weeks of reshoots to tweak the movie. Four weeks of reshoots would be expensive and quite extensive, and it wouldn’t be unprecedented. Warner Brothers recently sent Suicide Squad back to production to fix a tone issue Full Story

Chloe Sevigny is doing the rounds for her new movie, Love & Friendship, and while promoting it she gave an interview to The Guardian in which she says that working with auteurs has given her “a total disdain for directors” that is “very strong, very deep”. Full Story
