George & Matt in the countryside
George Clooney and Matt Damon were in the English countryside continuing work on The Monuments Men. The photo agency has labelled the other dude as Jean Dujardin...but that doesn’t look like him to me. You?
Anyway, what a great opportunity to segue back, again, to Behind The Candelabra. Have you seen it yet!?!? The film will run the table at the Emmys, the Golden Globes, and the SAGs, maybe even the BAFTAs, though I’m not sure what their requirements are and if they’re similar to the Oscars. Many of you have asked why Behind The Candelabra will not be eligible for the Oscar even though it’s screening in theatres next week in certain European cities. In the US it was a television release first and that’s against Academy rules or something. No sense wasting time on their complicated policies. The Academy isn’t to blame anyway. The studios are for not wanting to make the film because it was considered to be “too gay”. And we the audience have to eat some of that as well. Because ...well... do you really need me to cite examples?
So, no, Baby Boy will not be nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
By the way, these photos were taken in a town called Buckinghamshire. You know who used to own property in Buckinghamshire? Angelina Jolie. That was, I think, where that famous set of photos was taken of shirtless Brad Pitt, then blonde, with Maddox on a motorbike. It was 2005, shortly after they were shot on the beach in Kenya, confirming that Brange was actually happening.
As you know, Brange is expected to walk the carpet at the UK premiere of World War Z in London on Sunday. That venue will melt down if Brad’s friends, George and Matt, show up to support.
