Gwyneth vs Vanity Fair (again)
You remember when Page Six first reported that Gwyneth declined Vanity Fair and was telling her friends all over the place not to do it? The NY Times is now confirming it. They were able to access an email from G to her people that read as follows:
“Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine. If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again.”
Threatening to put her on the cover? Since when is being on the cover of Vanity Fair a threat unless you’re a member of a cult that may or may not kidnap young actresses?
Interestingly enough, G’s position is supported by a major Hollywood publicist, Leslee Dart, who represents Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. Dart basically told the NY Times that celebrities don’t need Vanity Fair anymore.
So Vanity Fair asked Harvey Weinstein, who once championed Gwyneth Paltrow, to speak on their behalf, insisting that Vanity Fair continues to be an institution that can make or break a celebrity or a film. Harvey and G aren’t close anymore. Obviously.
In other words, G has started a war over Vanity Fair. All this drama… over G! Which…is kinda the way she likes it, non?
Does that mean she’ll never go to a Vanity Fair Oscar party ever again?
