Don't call her Mrs Affleck

Jennifer Garner covers the new ALLURE. You'll have to help me out with this one, please. Because there's a quote here that I have some questions about.

On why she and Ben don't do a lot of carpets together, Garner said:

"Sometimes it's a pain because my heels are so high and it would be nice to have his arm. And he's such a great date! But it can be too much. I think especially for women, they can really lose their identity and just become 'wife of.'"

Except during award season, right? Because come on. Sometimes it's a pain, but it didn't seem to be a pain when they were playing for Oscar.

Still, Garner seems to be bumping up against being called the "wife of" Ben Affleck. And, apart from the, ahem, inconsistency of that sentiment the way she lives it, I agree; I feel like most of you out there would agree.

But...

Would it be as unappealing for Garner to be called "mother of Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel"?

What about the women who go around identifying themselves as "mother of xxx"?

Is that OK because those are kids, as opposed to "wife" because that's an attachment to a MAN?

For serious. What's the answer?
