Lainey Interviews Articles
We need to talk about Ezra Miller

A few of you have been asking lately about Ezra Miller, specifically in any conversations around Oscar, as he has an outside chance at a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance in We Need To Talk About Kevin which I thought was great. Miller is a strong actor. He could have an interesting career. Full Story
On Ron, Charlie, SoA
Like I said re: Game of Thrones, there’s less than a page of Sons of Anarchy panel photos from Comic-Con. And maybe 2 full body shots of Charlie Hunnam. As opposed of course to Twilight which takes up at least 30 pages between all its castmembers including, like, Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed. Nikki Reed has more solo shots available than the entire SoA panel. Full Story
Carey Mulligan TMNT & Ryan Gosling’s kiss
Stop! If you have to ask what TMNT is it means you might not get the story. I’d not seen Carey Mulligan in almost a year since last TIFF. Sometimes you forget how breathtaking they can be. She can be. She is. So much. It’s more than what she looks like, although that is truly, truly lovely – her delicate face, warm eyes, lips that always look like they want to laugh, and she really does shine with a short bright haircut. Justin ... “Not”
That’ll make sense for you in a minute. Let me set the scene: Last night, as we do when we’re covering these festivals and conventions, we get together at the end of the night for some drinks before we hit the party. We compare stories – how was your day, who did you get, how was your interview, do you think you have enough b-roll? – and sometimes we agree and sometimes we disagree, and that’s normal because you can’t all get along with the same people and it’s a great way to exchange information and compare observations. Real Steel Superstar
That title is cheesy and more than a little twee, I know. It could be worse though. I could put an exclamation point at the end of it and really gross you out. But the thing is, I also really wanted to call him a Superstar. I feel like anything less is a disservice to him. And I feel like since his movie, the one for which he was here yesterday in San Diego for Comic-Con, is called Real Steel, it would be a good way to pimp his project and pay tribute to how f-cking awesome he is. Michael Sheen and all his girls
I meant to write about this yesterday but the agency only made these photos available today. At least for blogs. Michael Sheen is in Toronto as his daughter Lily is here with her mother Kate Beckinsale. On Tuesday, Michael and Kate took Lily to the Canadian premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Full Story
Three days with Neville
I interviewed him at the junket in New York on Sunday and I told him I’d be in his face the next three days because on Monday there was the NYC premiere and then on Tuesday he’d be in Toronto to promote the film and etalk had exclusive access at the after party. He was really sweet about it. Full Story
Angelina
For those of you who are new to the site, here's how it works on a junket: they put you in a waiting area, you are on rotation to interview the talent, you make your rounds from room to room until each one is checked off the list. You only move when summoned. There is an order about the process. At the Kung Fu Panda 2 junket last week, the attending talent included Dustin Hoffman, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Jack Black, and Angelina Jolie. Full Story
On Ryan Reynolds
The new issue of Hello! Canada features an exclusive interview with Ryan Reynolds in which they call him Mr Scarlett Johansson and are offered the rare opportunity to discuss with Mr Scarlett Johansson life with Scarlett Johansson herself. With busy working schedules and homes on two coasts (New York City and L. Full Story
Single in Cannes
Great timing. After word broke yesterday that Dominic Cooper was up to no good with that skint.ass.scag Lindsay Lohan on Tuesday night, Us Weekly has confirmed that he and Amanda Seyfried are on a “break”. Full Story
Michael Buble
Background: I have been very, VERY critical of Michael Buble especially while he was dating Emily Blunt who is, as many of you know, in my estimation, as close to perfect as it gets in Hollywood... with the exception of Marion Cotillard. But this is another discussion. There were allegations of infidelity, of douchey behaviour, and I wrote about it extensively. Full Story
Re-loving Adrien Brody
A quick recap about why I stopped. It was all good until this came out. Click here and it’ll become clear. He fell in love with Elsa Pataky and turned into a cheesedick. Full Story
Robin, Keanu, and fangirling for Rebecca
The Private Lives of Pippa Lee premiered at TIFF last night. I was assigned to the cover the carpet for etalk and when Rebecca Miller arrived, it was like Robert Pattinson for me. No one but Rebecca Miller could wear what she wore. I know you think it’s weird, I know you think it’s not something Jennifer Aniston would wear and therefore not acceptable. Full Story
Michael Caine & Clive Owen
The Grey Goose Soho House party on Saturday night was sick. The venue: a subway platform at Bay Station. Two trains with blue lit compartments lined each side of the platform and a long bar bordered one which, naturally, became my office for the evening. The event was in honour of Harry Brown, the new film starring Sir Michael Caine and Emily Mortimer (pictured here with Terry Gilliam) who is pregnant and due in January. Full Story
