The love is over, the show goes on

The CW upfronts happened in New York today. And the stars of one of the network’s most important shows, The Vampire Diaries, turned up together, but not. It was confirmed last week that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have ended their relationship. Needless to say, there were no group shots. But though the two didn’t pose together necessarily, they did appear on stage, separated by CW’s network president. Awkward? Doesn’t seem like it in the photo, but it must have been right before they came out onstage. How could it not be? And that’s probably nothing compared to how awkward it’ll be if they have to shoot a kissing or a love scene when TVD comes back from hiatus?
And...the show goes on.
That’s the added downside of an office relationship when you work in television.
Do you become repulsed by a person when you break up with them? This is my experience. Total revulsion. And it doesn’t matter what they look like. Even if they were as pretty as Ian Somerhalder. Attraction is more than just appearance, non? Then again, I don’t Twi-Hard for “Delena” (is what they call them, the Nina-Ian shippers). They’re still hoping the writers will help them find their way back.
