MET Let Down: Emma Watson
You’re shouting at me, I am wincing, and I am sorry. Because as you know, I love her so much. Sometimes in a way that might be considered off side. Like... I feel like she’s ours a little. The way we watched her grow, how proud we are of her life decisions (school!), and how gracefully she’s eased into adulthood – Emma is our girl. So it’s not that I hate Emma’s white dress, it’s just... well... I was expecting a little more.
Her hair is wavy and at her shoulders (seen it), there’s a soft smoky eye (done it), and it’s a white one shoulder dress with side panels and a slit up the front like an afterthought – rather unimaginative, non? And while she may have been limited by Burberry given that she was on Christopher Bailey’s list, dressing Emma as the good girl was simply too predictable especially since she’s shown signs that she’s willing to experiment with bold lines and shapes and fabrics. On this night, at her age, it would not only have been ok, it would have totally been welcome.
To drive the point home: Taylor Swift – they’re about the same age – showed up in white with soft ruffles too. I’m just saying sartorially Emma Watson should never ever be compared to Taylor Swift.
