Game of Thrones Articles
Lainey loves her Girl Sh-it and her Boy Sh-t, and I love Sibling Sh-t. It’s like Girl Sh-t and Boy Sh-t piled with childhood issues and family dynamics. Of course we’ve had our fair share of it lately (thanks, Solange!) but it doesn’t have to be so dramatic to be interesting. I’m fascinated by Kate and Rooney Mara (why won’t they pose together?!). Game Of Thrones Season 4 Episode 8 recap I think the question on everybody’s mind has to do with the human body, the physics therein, and whether that could have actually happened, but let’s do it in sequence as we usually do, just to maintain the suspense a little. The previouslies alone need footnotes. Full Story
Game Of Thrones Season 4 Episode 7 recap: The return of Hot Pie When you’re on the road the way this episode is, everything can feel disjointed. But the exciting part of it is that there’s no cabin fever. Things are moving, both in the more and less literal senses. And it almost felt – good? Like fun, or exciting? I apologize in advance for the lack of pronouns in this recap, but there were a lot of single-sex scenes, which makes “he” and “she” kind of futile. Full Story
Game Of Thrones Season 4 Episode 6 recap Sometimes I complain that there’s action without consequence. This episode is not that. In fact, this might be the actual exemplary episode of GOT – there’s violence and sex and cunning plots and most importantly, really getting to spend time with the masterminds of everyone’s fate. Game Of Thrones Season 4 Episode 5 recap Excuse me? A preview with Ned Stark in it? Okay this is going to be GOOD. This episode was comprised almost entirely of twosomes. One conversation after another held between two people, without the artifice of everyone around to perform for, who can cut straight to the heart of the matter. Full Story
Game Of Thrones Season 4 Episode 4 recap Things got interesting, but that’s not the same thing as saying that they got fun. There are movements in the stories, of course, but I was really hard-pressed for a laugh this week. Mostly that’s because we weren’t watching my favourite sitcom, Arya & The Hound, and because Tyrion in a regular shirt sitting in a cell doesn’t bring many laughs. Full Story
Game Of Thrones Season 3 Episode 3 recap Not girls, necessarily, but did you notice how they were at the centre of every single plot? Westeros is filled with powerful men, but it’s the women – right down to Gilly – who have the most going on in every situation. The other notable thing about this episode was that the stories started and ended – more vignettes than overlapping stories. Full Story
Game Of Thrones Season 4 Episode 2 recap Okay, NOW. Now we begin! Maybe. If you’re ready. If you’ve managed to erase that face from your mind you must not be human, or were looking down at your iPad most of the time. That has stayed with me through repeated viewings. Shudder. Those repeated viewings taught me that the last 2/3 of the show are basically a parade of people who could have done it, so let’s first deal with the parts of the show that aren’t that. Full Story
HBO announced yesterday that Game Of Thrones has been renewed for two more seasons after Sunday’s record-breaking ratings for the premiere of Season 4. That would, in theory, catch the show up with how many books have been released – five to date. As Duana mentioned in Monday’s recap – click here if you missed it – we’ve not read the books. And don’t intend to. For me it’s partly because, um, I can’t make it through the writing. Also, since the show is SO f-cking good, why should I?
Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 1 recap “Lots of people name their swords.” “Lots of c-nts.” COME ON! Welcome back to Westeros. It felt like it was an awfully long time this time, didn’t it? Every time, but especially this time, because we have been so completely sure that we need to MOVE. Full Story
"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."
ARE YOU READY???
Sunday night it comes. Season 4, Game Of Thrones, 9pm on HBO Canada. We’ve been waiting 10 long months for this. And we only get it for 10 short weeks. So speak in an English accent and get all melodramatic if you want to. Because this is the show that has everything. I’ve not read the books but I have watched the first 3 episodes and after what happens in just the first third, I can’t even imagine how much more f-cked up and amazing it’s all going to be. Game Of Thrones Season 4 premiere happened last night. April 6. April 6 is almost here. You know, I heard from a producer the other day that she didn’t think Game Of Thrones was a big enough deal to cover? I was enraged. And also I wondered where she’s been because. Because Game Of Thrones is not only a big deal, it’s quite possibly the ONLY deal. Full Story
I screamed seeing this cover. I mean it’s all of them, obviously. But last season really pushed me into the arms of Jaime Lannister. And goddamn he is hot. Especially in the behind-the-scenes video. Also I’m jacking this hair for The Social. Both the Khaleesi and Cersei. God I love this show. Full Story
Says Littlefinger in the new trailer for Game Of Thrones Season 4. Is that how the show manages to stay ahead of its peers? Dragons! Big, big dragons, I can hear Sarah screaming. Oh yes, the Khaleesi’s dragons look enormous now, circling their mother, the mother of dragons, as she leans back wantonly on a cliff, overlooking that which she aims to conquer. Full Story
