MET Cinderellas: Jennifer Lopez & Anne Hathaway
Am surprised Anne Hathaway was able to leave the event unscathed, without a knife wound in her side, a gift from Jennifer Lopez for essentially wearing the same dress.
It was the same dress.
Different designers but it was the same dress.
Cinderella dress. Princess dress. Cotillion dress. The same dress.
Lara wrote to me this morning: You’re gonna hate it because I know you will, but I’m a sucker for that sh-t.
Of course she’s right. These dresses are not my favourite. I just don’t find them particularly exciting. How hard can it be? Walt Disney invented it.
Oscars? Fine. Whatever.
MET Gala? It’s lazy.
On JLo this is expected these days. Her Zuhair Murad is about as original as a Romantic Comedy. For Anne Hathaway however, having evolved past those Diary movies, given that with her youth and her vibe she really does have so many options, this gown was not an inspired choice. And, while we’re at it, very very Carrie Underwood. Both actually were very, very Carrie Underwood. It’s a question they should all ask.
Would Carrie Underwood wear it? Pass if yes.
