Hi Hayley, Not sure if you have covered this before, but I'm interested in some exercises for bone health that would cater to somebody who hasn't exercised for a while and would need to start at the VERY beginner level. I had a bone density test with some worrying results for my age (mid-30's). Full Article

Hi Hayley, I'd love to get your advice on how much cardio I need in my exercise routine please. I'm currently doing 2-3 boot camp sessions a week, plus maybe one pilates and one yoga class. I'm generally happy with how I look, even though I'm carrying a couple of extra kilos since having kids which I would ideally like to shed, but I'm aware I don't have the diligence to do this - I don't want to give up the occasional treat like wine or dark chocolate. Full Article

Last night while out training for the Nike Women’s 15km race in Toronto, I picked up the intensity of my workout and added in a 15 minute High Intensity Training session at the half way point of my run. This is something that, if you are a runner and you do not already supplement your running with strength training, I suggest you try adding to your runs once or twice a week. Full Article

Hi Haley, I've been working out for a few years now and been trying to figure out what works for my body and what doesn't. More recently, I've been noticing quite a lot of "8 week fitness challenges" popping up by fitness girls on Instagram. Are they healthy to be doing and what are your opinion on fitness challenges? Are they a sustainable way to achieve your health and body goals? Thanks, J ___ Here's the thing - you really cannot accomplish anything unless you challenge yourself to do so. Full Article

Hey Hayley, I've had a bit of a rough time with lady part issues this past year; large ovarian cysts, ruptures, endometriosis, fibroids, severe anemia. You get the icky picture. I had one surgery last spring and have another lined up next month. Chronic pelvic pain has put a damper on daily living for over a year now. Full Article

Spring is my favourite time of year as it is symbolic of a new beginning, and with the snow melting and new buds blooming I am always inspired to start fresh. I review old data from last season’s training to help set new and improved goals; for this season’s work, however I do not worry about how fast I used to be but rather how fast I want to be. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I am very active, and I do cardio 6 times a week, changing it up between treadmill running, HIIT on the treadmill, and the Elliptical. I am doing the P90X Ab Ripper twice a week, and after my long runs I do few minutes of rowing, biceps, triceps and some fitness ball exercises. So I do a lot, or at least I think I do? My goal was never to lose any weight but only to tone my body, which all of the above is doing very well. Full Article

Hi Hayley! Can you suggest any exercises to help alleviate back pain caused by carrying my toddler around? My sweet boy wants me to hold him all the time, and he's now over twenty pounds. My back aches all the time now. I actually went to my doctor because I was afraid I had injured myself, and my doctor just suggested that I hold my baby less, and try not to jut my right hip out when I do hold him. Full Article

Hi Hayley, In May I will begin something that I have dreamed of for a long time– a road trip across the States and then up to Canada. Having lost my mother this past year due to a horribly long bout of mouth cancer, I’ve decided enough is enough, and time to grab life by the horns (or balls, as my mother would have said). Full Article

Hey Hayley, Can you give me a basic workout I can do at home? I walk or run outside regularly but a gym membership isn't really in my budget at the moment, and my free time is fairly limited, so I'd love a simple routine I can do at home in the mornings. I like doing lunges and push-ups but I want to make sure I'm not just working the same muscles over and over, and that I'm doing enough repetitions to really get something out of the movements. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I workout regularly 3 to 4 times per week. The problem is I am always sore.  Muscle soreness. If it's not my triceps, it's my quads, if not my quads, it is my back, if not my back, then it is my shoulder muscles. You get the picture. I have a difficult enough time getting motivated to workout but then I am so sore for days afterwards. Full Article

Last week I posted about lifestyle changes in an attempt to reduce belly fat (click here for a refresher) and I promised this week to show you a few of my favourite exercises for strengthening and toning your abs. These exercises can be done anywhere and all you will need to complete these exercises properly is a deflated rubber ball. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I was just wondering if you could recommend any exercises that slim down the waist specifically (i.e. without also slimming the hips/chest)? Basically my dream body is the hourglass figure. I'm in my early 20s and my stomach is (already) very much my problem area. While I know that it's not really genetically possible to reconfigure body shape, nor to spot-reduce fat, I keep holding out the probably illogical hope that there is some exercise or even food that encourages weight loss specifically on the waist/abdomen region. Full Article
