TIFF Bromance: just like Us!
I love those pages in Us Weekly when Jennifer Garner goes grocery shopping or Tori Spelling is picking her wedge – just like Us! Cracks me up.
Sorry to be late on this, especially since it’s George Clooney and Matt Damon, but it’s been a crazy few days in Toronto. They were both in Toronto at the same time, and they hooked up two nights in a row for a little bromance. Sorry to disappoint, it wasn’t the clandestine Tom Cruise kind.
In fact, aside from the personal security and bottles of wine worth several hundred dollars, and of course the mobs chasing them down, it was like two regular dudes getting together with the intention… to get DRUNK!
Am told that’s what Matt said – before Luciana his wife arrived in town, he was like “my wife and kids aren’t here so I’m givin’er!” And so they did. Thursday first, then Friday with Luciana present, staying out well past 3am at the Four Seasons, they couldn’t get enough of each other.
George hooked up with Matt following his own afterparty for The Men Who Stare At Goats at a private residence on the Bridle Path – this sick glass house with a basketball court in the basement and regulation hoops.
Vitamin Water was running the event, a red carpet stage was raised outside as live goats were milling about, and everyone was hoping someone would jump in the pool.
We expected George to hold court in VIP. He did not. He instead chose to stay upstairs with civilians and was kind and friendly and gracious when approached by them for a compliment and a handshake.
But for real, George Clooney is like the President. He arrives with a rumble, it’s like the ground shakes. Rolling 5 deep, one bodyguard in front, and four surrounding him in a semi-circle, they move like a protective tank. Celebrity secret service. Fascinating.
Shinan Govani told me that George was approached by a woman he knew and when she complimented him to say he looked well, he replied that “No… no… I look old. I look old”.
George stayed an hour, then left to see Matt. Photos are attached.
As for Up In The Air… it’s the performance of his career.
