Movie Reviews and Previews Articles
The Artist’s “public persona”
James Franco covers the new comedy issue of GQ because he stars in the upcoming This Is The End. Why are only Apatow people considered for comedy prime coverage? So now he’s a comedian too, in addition to being an actor, director, painter, poet, and academic... Have I missed anything? Maybe illusionist? Master manipulator? No, no, no. Full Story
Katniss on the mountain
Check out this new poster for Catching Fire. Katniss is almost mythological now. The movie isn’t due until November 22 but I hear things are going well in post and they’re working on adding special effects and music right now to the full cut of the film. Apparently preproduction for the third and fourth installments will start in June and possible shooting locations include Atlanta, Detroit, and Paris. Full Story
Now You See Me ... adding Jesse Eisenberg?
TK /Splash
I left Toronto for Vegas on Friday for The Hangover 3 junket. Those interviews will air on ETALK over the next couple of weeks. My flight back to Vancouver wasn’t until Sunday but many of the reporters left on Saturday to head straight to New Orleans for the Now You See Me junket. Several of them had already screened it prior to the trip because of the Hangover overlap and almost all of them told me it’s really, really good. Full Story
Ranger in Tokyo, Tonto in LA
Wenn, Pacific Coast News
Armie Hammer was in Tokyo today promoting The Lone Ranger all by himself. But you know how the Japanese feel about Johnny Depp. Johnny is shooting Transcendence in LA right now and couldn’t make it. I’m sure they’ll have him back at a later date. Johnny’s actually pretty fun when he goes to Japan. Full Story
Hair cut for Ryan Gosling
I know you’re out there, Matt Smith/Dr Who fans. And now you get to make out with the Ryan Gosling fans. Here they are, in Detroit on the set of Gosling’s How To Catch A Monster the other day. As you can see, Ryan is helping Matt “find the motivation”. Part of that motivation came from a total head buzz. Full Story
Sandy & George: first look at Gravity
Sandra Bullock + George Clooney in Gravity. It was shot a while ago. And it was supposed to be released last fall but was pushed back a year. Sometimes that’s a bad sign. And that was the presumption in this case. Now a teaser trailer has been released and the reaction has been solid. Gravity is directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Full Story

That was the most excellent term Simon Pegg coined to describe the shivery feeling people get around Benedict Cumberbatch. It came up in this terrible interview, which is worth a watch for how thoroughly Pegg dominates it and how quick he is off the cuff. Full Story
Tom Cruise runs the Great Wall of China

Tom Cruise was in Beijing yesterday promoting Oblivion. As you now know, the Chinese movie market is a big deal now. Not only for the money they make but also for, um, the money they steal. Iron Man 3 was released in China a day before North America. They say it was a smart decision so as to reduce the piracy situation. Full Story
Happy Mother’s Day/Daddy’s Home
FameFlynet, Pacific Coast News
Moms around the internet, we love you. You work so hard, those of us without kids quite literally have no idea how you do it. I, specifically, am in awe of your ability to not get blackout drunk at least once a week. It’s such incredible work and it seems that to celebrate, the Universe and Zac Efron have conspired to give a little something back to the straight mamas, and the lesbi-mums who like to look at pretty boys. Crushing on Chris again

Lainey used to give me sh*t all the time for liking Chris Evans, but over the last few years, he wore down my affection a bit. After taking a break, though, I’m coming back around to him. It helps that he’s not talking about rainbows and rivers in the press anymore. Instead his interviews over the last year have been self-deprecating and unpretentious, the things I liked about him to begin with. Full Story

Deadline’s Nikki Finke posted an engrossingly thorough report yesterday about negotiations for The Avengers 2. It’s a great article about the business of movies, and celebrities. You can click here to read it. In short, Marvel is cheap. Full Story
Gina & Henry at Fast & Furious 6

Gina Carano is in Fast & Furious 6? I had no idea. My interest in seeing it has now increased. Here she is at the premiere in a Vivienne Westwood dress. It’s not my favourite. But I do appreciate that Westwood can dress a different body type other than Kate Bosworth. Gina’s boyfriend, Henry Cavill, was also there. Full Story
The director lifts boxes
Of course he does, when he’s Ryan Gosling. Ryan is directing his first film called How To Catch A Monster. Here he is lifting sh-t on set in Detroit the other day. I dunno, I thought it might make you swoony. Last week in this article Full Story
Cammie & Jaime Lannister?!
FameFlynet, Jose Perez/ Splash
Let me put this out there for you right now... Nikolaj Coster-Waldau > Alexander Skarsgard. Get on board with that. Did you see him on Saturday Night Live?! What I’m saying is that I clutched the sheets. Also, when he reached out last night on Game Of Thrones, with his remaining hand, to hold back Brienne’s knife? Jesus, I might need some Lannister-Tarth fan fiction. Full Story
