Michael Douglas Gossip
Michael Douglas gossip, latest news, photos, and video.
Dear Gossips,
I can’t believe Michael Douglas won’t be receiving an Oscar nomination for his work in Behind The Candelabra. Because he is BRILLIANT in Behind The Candelabra. An actor still at the very, very, very top of his game. And Matt Damon too. And Steven Soderbergh.
Behind The Candelabra is so f-cking good, I watched it twice last night, back to back. You know what the word is? It’s a word I never, ever, ever use because it’s so, so, SO overused:
Fabulous.
But how else to say it? Fabulous, and sad, and hysterical. The kind of movie you keep playing, if only to learn the lines. What makes it even more fabulous is that fabulous was not their goal. They played it straight, no pun intended. In playing it straight, the authenticity gave way to the fabulous, organically. Read Full Intro
Behind The Candelabra in Cannes

Michael Douglas and Matt Damon were in Cannes today to promote Behind The Candelabra, premiering on HBO and HBO Canada on Sunday. Here’s where I get spoiled and whiny and wonder about my screener. That said, I also haven’t checked the mail in several days. By the way, Game Of Thrones fans, Episode 9 has been pre-empted because of Memorial Day and Candelabra will air in its place so don’t be surprised if you tune in on Sunday expecting the Khaleesi and find a lot of rhinestone, marble, and hairspray instead. Liberace was Gay Boogyman
The new trailer is out for Behind The Candelabra, HBO’s biopic about Liberace (Michael Douglas) and his boyfriend (Matt Damon), and damn if it doesn’t look like everything you could want it to be. Douglas playing into his naturally creepy old-man vibe, Matt Damon in a speedo (bonus Rob Lowe bulge!), plus coke, capes, and bathtub drama! A description of this movie reads like a Stefan sketch from SNL ie: Behind The Candelabra’s got everything. Full Story
More movie stars at the Emmys
A new teaser trailer has been released for HBO’s Behind The Candelabra with Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon playing his lover Scott Thorson, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait to see this. May 26 in Canada and the US but Deadline Full Story
Oscar Lipsynch: Catherine Zeta-Jones

I couldn’t come up with it in 140 words or less on Twitter in time but my point is -- did you have a reaction to the fact that Michael Douglas and Jane Fonda make more sense than Michael Douglas and Catherine-Zeta Jones…? Many of you thought it was damage control that they showed up together just as rumours spread last week that they’re in trouble. Full Story
One minute acting
A lot of you have been sending me this today: the New York Times video featuring (mostly) world class actors “acting” for a minute. Let’s call this what it is, ok? It’s a little pretentious and contrived. Come on now… The black and white, the music, the self involvement disguised as art – this kind of sh-t alienates people. Full Story
Zeta has an LA Face
Do you remember LA Face? Click here if you need a refresher on LA Face. Dude, Catherine Zeta-Jones is walking around with LA Face. A bad case of LA Face. LA Face was on display last night at the Tony Awards where she won Best Actress in a Musical. LA Face and Whitney House sweaty face. Full Story
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
Can a movie be watchable and a mess all at once? Because at no time during Money Never Sleeps was I bored or not entertained but at the same time I can’t tell you it’s a good movie. What I can say is that there’s no sense to it, and it’s deeply flawed, and the ending is bullsh-t, and the character development is inconsistent, and it felt rushed with too much sh-t jammed into too little time. A united front
She’s from that school where they teach you to always stand by and stick it through. Catherine Zeta-Jones was well trained in this respect, especially when there are other sh-tty situations to contend with. The Zetas of the world, they don’t crumble in crisis. She steels herself and moves ahead. Full Story
Photo Assumption: Michael & Zeta
It’s been a while since they’ve been officially out together in public despite living in high profile New York. Catherine Zeta-Jones is working on Broadway and Michael Douglas was shooting Wall Street 2 with the terrible title. Last night the couple stepped on a carpet – first time what seems like a long time. This Hot Bitch reunites with That Old Man
At the New York City Police Foundation Gala last night – Basic Instinct was reunited. Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas and, as you can see, one is holding up better than the other. Bet you he’s had more work done than she. Fair enough, he is older. But her face... it’s f-cking marvellous, non? This Hot Bitch, I don’t care what she’s had done, whatever it is it’s keeping her a Hot Bitch. Full Story
Dumb title portends more?
As you know, for months I’ve been bitching about the dumbassness of the title Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. A trailer has been released online. Don’t really like the way it’s cut but am still kinda intrigued. By Michael Douglas. Shia LaBeouf looks like an infant. And while that scene with Carey Mulligan in her shirt and laptop is totally useless, she does look gorgeous. Full Story
Carey in a gown
On the Met steps last night shooting a father daughter scene with Michael Douglas and Oliver Stone. Now that’s a gown. And I love the colour. And she is beautiful. And I’m so sorry but am in studio all day for several shoots, and had a deadline on a draft for a major piece and now I’ve run out of time. Full Story
Gird yourself
This will be a very immature article. If you’re looking for cerebral content for adults, you should probably skip to the next. But given his wanky ass treatment of his (ex?) girlfriend Carey Mulligan the other night, it totally seems appropriate. Full Story
