JK Rowling Gossip
JK Rowling gossip, latest news, photos, and video.
There’s a new story bit about Draco Malfoy on Pottermore, and a rumination from J.K. Rowling on the character. I had to change my Pottermore password three times before I could actually access it, which I am convinced is part of the goal – to make it difficult for you, to make it worth it when you finally unlock the story you’re looking for and give you a sense of achievement. OMG. Dolores Umbridge is back. For Halloween. It was announced on Pottermore today that JK Rowling has written a new Harry Potter story to be posted on Halloween and it’s about Umbridge and her backstory – how did she get so pink and catty? The last time Jo gave us some new material – from the Quidditch World Cup – her site crashed. Full Story
Last year, Warner Brothers announced their intention to make a Harry Potter spin-off film based on a text book mentioned in the series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. Now, Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara tells the New York Times that the Fantastic Beasts spin-off will in fact be three “megamovies” and are described as being neither prequels nor any linear relation to Harry’s story. The big movie release this month is Catching Fire. There was a time however that November belonged to the Harry Potter movies. The first and second films in the franchise came out in November. Out of the series of 8, a total of 4 of them were November opens. So I associate November with Harry Potter, and London too, since I was sent there for junketing several years in a row, both for the theatrical releases and the DVD launches.
It felt right then to see these pictures of JK Rowling with Emma Watson this November at a fundraiser for Lumos on Saturday at the Warner Bros Harry Potter Tour. The event raised over a million pounds in support of orphans around the world. You know who else was there?

Our Mother of Magic, JK Rowling, isn’t a carpet whore. She keeps a very, very low profile, even at her own movie premieres. So it’s exciting when she goes out. And she seems to be really into Wimbledon. She and her husband were seated in the Royal Box and watched Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic win their matches today. Full Story

Big news in the publishing world today: JK Rowling will release a new novel for adults with a different publisher and not with Bloomsbury which published all the Potters. That’s the only thing we know. More details are coming later this year including exactly when the book will come out, what it’s called, and what it’ll be about. Full Story

There’s a heavy, heavy column ahead. Both the BAFTAs and the Grammys happened on Sunday. There will be full coverage on both, which means the articles will spill over to the second page of the site. Please scroll down and click VIEW MORE ARTICLES to get caught up on all content. Duana and Sarah have contributed a few articles each to help out. And of course the blog works in reverse chronological order so the earliest posts will be further down. We’ll report on BAFTAs first, then move into Grammys. After this, there’s only one awards show to go, and it’s the big one: the Oscars on February 27th. I’ll be in LA the entire week working for etalk and our annual live red carpet telecast. Still haven’t decided on hair, dress, nothing. Fittings are this week. Will you help me choose? Check my Twitter at http://twitter.com/LaineyGossip Read Full Intro
Please note that the following post is heavy on spoilers. Do you re-read them before you see them? I always do. Because I’m a nerd that way, yes, but also because it’s fascinating to see how even the smallest details are interpreted for the screen. I loved for example how Voldemort completely emasculates Lucius Malfoy when he takes his wand. Full Story
Love her so f-cking much. There’s a reason why Stephen King, and so many J.K. Rowling fans, took such offence to those early dumbass comparisons between Harry Potter and Twilight. One is gold, the other is ass, and it’s incredibly insulting to Jo’s great talent and her legacy to put her in the same sentence as that silly Stephenie Meyer. Full Story

And then the kids they shouted questions at her like: Q: What’s you favorite Harry Potter book?!?!!?!?!?!!?A: The seventh. Full Story
