Will Schuester I Hate You
Best part of Glee last night? Sue Sylvester’s Vogue, right?
When I was in high school, our drama program put on a week of “Circus” performances for local elementary schools every yeaer. It was a huge production, we worked on it for months, and for two years in a row, my best friend EB and I choreographed a Madonna routine that became the highpoint of the show. We were obsessed with Madge, and EB kinda looked like her, especially when she pulled her light, light, light hair into a ponytail Blonde Ambition styles.
Every day after school we painstakingly watched the music and tour videos for Express Yourself and Vogue and learned all the moves. We practised those moves for weeks and weeks and weeks. Then we cut a mix of both songs, with EB as M and me and our other friend JS as Niki and Donna and we delivered a pretty flawless imitation (for 16 year olds) for 5 sold out shows. After that we entered a lipsynching competition and won.
The next year we expanded – it was a 4 song medley (Keep It Together, Into the Groove, Papa Don’t Preach, and Holiday) with 20 dancers and again, meticulous copycat of the same routines she delivered on her Blonde Ambition Tour. I still remember most of it. And I can still do every step in the “ooohhhh you’ve got to, let your body” section of Vogue.
I wish I had the foresight to have saved our video. F-ck!
Anyway, as you can see, with a much bigger budget, Glee recreated Vogue frame for frame. OMG. Remember Oliver Crumes? Remember when they meangirled him? It’s time to watch Truth or Dare again.
