I know we had twenty minutes of explanation about the veil and where it dropped and why, but aside from those nods to propriety, it all felt a little easy, didn’t it? Veil dropped. The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Episode 20 recap So a wee vacation from our friends in Mystic Falls to the grown-up world of New Orleans. I can say with absolute certainty that I got the flavour of the French Quarter in a way I didn’t expect to. I mean, the brass bands were somewhat expected, I guess, but the feeling of striding in and out of various establishments and knowing people there is something I’ve unconsciously associated with New Orleans, without having been there yet. Full Story

The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Episode 19 recap Sorry, okay, but of all the things that this show does well, that delight me, I am least interested in the ongoing trials of our seniors in high school. Seriously, as though any of them were ever going to graduate anyway at this point? But on a serious note, it bothers me because, as we saw tonight, we’ve finally crossed the threshold where the “petty, teenage” concerns are just irrelevant,  seeing as saving the life of a given human is just all in a night’s work for Matt, the most “average” of them all. Full Story

The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Episode 14 recap It took damn long enough!  Seriously, this episode, with the wandering and the moaning, and one person after another discovering that in fact there was only cure enough for one person, was kind of exhausting, wasn’t it? The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Episode 13 recap Not only was I not the only one who was thinking it, I have to believe it was where the whole idea came from, right? “Guys, how are we going to do this whole ‘nobody trusts anyone’ thing this week?” “Dump ‘em on a beach! Somerhalder on a beach! It’s flashbacks right there! I miss LOST!” It is indeed flashbacks, though Damon is way more interesting to watch than Boone, even when he’s doing nothing. Full Story

The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Episode 12 recap “Dad ,There’s A Dance Tonight! “Not Anymore” I mean, these words made me really hope this was going to be a Footloose tribute – and you did too, what with the 80s music taking you back. What we got instead was a little more directly murderous on Elena’s part, but I mean, the sentiment is the same, right? Good girl has way more chutzpah than we bargained for? And the pure of heart get to have their pride at the dance, even if they don’t get the guy? (Can’t you just see Rebecca screaming “No!
