A couple of weeks ago, US Weekly reported that Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender broke up. I wrote about how I wasn’t sure about how legit that was at the time – click here for a refresher. Alicia showed up at the Steve Jobs premiere on Saturday. Full Story

If Michael Fassbender wins an Oscar for playing Steve Jobs in the film of the same name, he has Ashton Kutcher to thank for it. That’s a joke, of course, but it’s one that Fassbender already made himself at the NYFF Steve Jobs press conference on Saturday. He’s referencing the Kutcher-led Jobs, which was released two years ago Full Story

The Martian won the box office this weekend with a $55 million debut on strong reviews, reaffirming Matt Damon’s movie star power and popularity and lifting the Mars curse. The numbers also improve The Martian’s Oscar chances at being included among the 10 possible Best Picture candidates, just like Gravity. Full Story

Matthew McConaughey was in New York this weekend shooting Gold. They’ve been working on the film since July and are expected to wrap soon. Matthew plays Kenny Wells, always looking for his big break, and ends up partnering with Edgar Ramirez on a gold hunt in Indonesia. They’re hoping to release it next year. Full Story

Production on the new Bridget Jones movie, Bridget Jones’s Baby, started a couple of weeks ago in London. The film will NOT be based on the third book in the series but rather on Helen Fielding’s columns. She also worked on the screenplay. Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver is not returning. Full Story

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth have started promotion for Mockingjay 2, the end of The Hunger Games. All three were with Josh Horowitz for an MTV interview around the “campfire”. And, of course, because it’s Jennifer Lawrence, part of the conversation became about their most disgusting habits. Full Story

Should we be worried about Andrew Garfield? The tone of his recent interviews is kind of making me worry about him. Garfield has been promoting his new movie, 99 Homes, which deals with class disparity and all the ways in which lower-income members of society are disadvantaged—often cruelly and deliberately—by a system that benefits by keeping poor people poor. Full Story

I wrote about Jake Gyllenhaal’s height investigation on Starlee Kine’s Mystery Show back in June. Click here for a refresher. He was soooo f-cking cute on that phone call. It was the giggling, it was playfulness, it was practically phone sex in my mind. Full Story

Answer honestly: how curious are you about this conversation? How badly would you have wanted to eavesdrop on Joaquin Phoenix and Moby? Joaquin joined his ma and sisters last night at the PETA 35th anniversary event in honour of River Phoenix. They named an award after him. Joaquin was last seen in Woody Allen’s Irrational Man with Emma Stone. Full Story

The Martian comes out tomorrow. Variety reports that it’s been outselling Gravity in advance tickets. Some are projecting an opening weekend box office in the low $40s and others are thinking it might go all the way into the $50s. Oh and NASA told us they found water or something on Mars this weekend. Full Story
