Avril Lavigne, who will soon marry Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, has released a new song. It’s called Here’s To Never Growing Up. Avril told Ryan Seacrest that Here’s To Never Growing Up is:

“…a pop rock tune. And it's just about being young, having fun, being present, living in the moment and that's what I love to do. This is one of the newer tunes [we recorded]. It was me and four dudes and I wanted to write something really fun, like a summer song."

And here’s the first line to the song:

"Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs/With the boombox blaring/As we're falling in love... Singing 'Here's to never growing up.'”

Look, Jacek and I, we’re a Radiohead family. All over Radiohead, as well documented on this blog if you’ve been reading long enough. And that’s the first time I’ve heard Radiohead described as “fun, summer” music…on an album co-written by the lead singer of NICKELBACK!?!

But it does sound like Complicated. Hear it:

Chill out, what you yelling for?
Lay back it’s all been done before

And now, the first verse:

Call up all our friends
Go hard this weekend

Very similar, right?

I like it. Because I liked Complicated. I can sing Complicated any time, and have done so at dinner parties, and other gatherings. Sorry! But the point is, Here’s To Never Growing Up is pretty much Complicated and the same. And as I’ve noted repeatedly, Avril’s sound, like her fans, seems to be rooted in 14 forever. Avril, in the past, had had to keep mining the same 14 year old demographic because her fans don’t evolve with her, the evolve away from her. This will also be Justin Bieber’s professional artistic challenge. Apparently on Avril’s upcoming new album, she’ll also be singing about Hello Kitty and bad girls. Right.

Chad was with Avril for her visit to Seacrest. They talked about falling in love in the studio while making music together and how he proposed and their wedding plans. I say this with NO sarcasm, I swear. I really, really, honestly, can’t wait for this wedding. A proper Canadian wedding!
