But first, Gwyneth Paltrow covers the new issue of UK Glamour, apparently “Britain’s No 1 Women’s Magazine”? The pictures are very clean, high end, kinda like how you’d imagine her home(s). If they asked for an artist’s rendering of “Classic Socialite”, this is what they’d come up with.

The most interesting parts of the interview, once again, are her comments about marriage. And it’s becoming a familiar refrain: Gwyneth’s marriage is not perfect; Gwyneth’s marriage has been troubled; but Gwyneth will not give up on it. People like Gwyneth do not divorce:

“It’s hard being married. You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We’re the same as any couple. I asked my dad once, ‘How did you and Mum stay married for 33 years?’ And he said, ‘Well, we never wanted to get divorced at the same time”. And I think that’s what happens. When two people throw in the towel at the same time, then you break up, but if one person’s saying, ‘come on, we can do this’, you carry on.' We laugh, we’re good friends, we like to do the same stuff. I’m a very grounded, homey person and Chris is a very mad scientist, genius songwriter. So I never say ‘Where are you? You should be home by now’. I never place demands on him because I think he’s a really talented man and he’s putting something good into the world.”

What if he wasn’t talented? Then would she be demanding? How do you read that? Hilariously, there’s a part of me that reads it like this, and Jennifer Lopez comes to mind: my husband is motivated and in my eyes, I’ve found my equal, so I don’t have to pressure him to change or be more or to catch me. Can you imagine if JLO said the same about Slum Bear Casper Smart? “I never place demands on him because he’s talented and putting something good into the world”? Then again, as we’ve seen, my G never dates down.

And here’s G dressed down in London today running errands. Still no word on whether or not she’s been to The Mrs Carter Show but Mrs Carter, Beyonce, is co-chairing the Costume Institute Gala on Monday night in New York. As I’ve been saying, and have said for years, it’s the greatest night of the year for Dress Porn. This year, the Dress Porn theme is supposed to be Punk: From Chaos To Couture...

Gwyneth is said to be attending to support her best friend B and word is she’ll be in Valentino, also one of her best friends. As for how “punk” she’ll be and, for that matter, how punk any of them will be...

The problem here is that no one ever gets it. In 2008, the MET Gala theme was “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Anna Wintour showed up like this. She was widely declared to be the “worst dressed”. For the Oscars? Maybe. For the MET Gala themed for superheroes? I’m not so sure. What do you want? A safe and strapless Oscar De La Renta? Where’s the imagination?

And still... Anna Wintour can afford to be called Worst Dressed if it’s by Karl Lagerfeld because it will not affect her position. Jessica Alba doesn’t have that luxury. So there will likely be very few risks. But God I would love to see a punk rock Gwyneth. Like the Gwyneth who showed up with a side braid and no bra, in Alexander McQueen well before its time, at the Oscars...
