Model becomes an actress. You’re like, whatever, because you still remember seeing Cindy Crawford in Fair Game. Nine times out of ten I would agree with you. But my best memory from TIFF 2014 was that I found out that Cara Delevingne can act. It was a film called The Face Of An Angel. Totally forgettable. Full Story

The Avengers must be playing baseball

That’s my takeaway from the new extended TV spot for Avengers: Age of Ultron—they must be playing baseball. This spot features a lot of new footage, including Thor swinging for the fences using his hammer as the bat and Captain America’s shield as the ball. Easily the two coolest moments are when Thor grand-slams Cap’s shield and when Cap chucks his motorcycle into an oncoming truckload of bad guys. Full Story

Sarah and I went for a switch today. She wrote about my #1 Oscar Isaac. And I'm writing about Chris Evans. She goes on and off on him. But the hope is always there. Which is why she was so pissed when she saw these shots of him leaving Fatburger in sweats. Something about how the top muscles don't match the lean legs. Full Story

Oscar Isaac has magnificent hair

Oscar Isaac covers the new issue of Details, in advance of his new movie Ex Machina, and oh my god, LOOK AT HIS MAGNIFICENT HAIR. Why have I never noticed this before? Perhaps it’s the length, and/or the fact that it isn’t shellacked to his head. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

The Divergent Series: Insurgent opens this weekend. Shailene Woodley and Theo James have been on promotion for it for the last couple of weeks. As you know, if you’ve been reading this blog for a few years, I was big on the first book (review here), then medium on the second book (review here), and it took me five days to read the final installment when I would have happily pulled an all-nighter to finish if I had to (review here).

Maybe the movies are going in the opposite direction? For me, the first movie was practically unwatchable.  Read Full Intro

Well colour me happy… Pretty Woman is 25 years old! DUANAAAAAA!!! I didn’t even bother writing to her about this article because I knew we were going to fight over it, because we always fight over Julia Roberts, and I didn’t want her to have it. Look. It’s not a movie you’re supposed to approve of anymore; it’s just so wrong, the idea of it is just so wrong…OK, OK. Full Story

Pac-Man is here for revenge

On paper, I should be all over Pixels. It’s a space invasion movie but the aliens are video game characters, it stars Peter Dinklage with a rocking mullet, and that “Pac-Man is a bad guy?” joke is great. But the first trailer is here and I can’t get into it. Yes, Dinklage (and his mullet) is present, but so is Adam Sandler. Full Story

Oscar Isaac has a creepy robot

One of the most intriguing movies coming up is Ex Machina, the directorial debut of sci-fi writer Alex Garland, who has written some of the better sci-fi movies of the last fifteen years, including Sunshine and Never Let Me Go. He wrote the screenplay for Ex Machina as well, and it looks like his best film yet. Full Story

Jake Gyllenhaal enjoyed St Patrick’s Day lunch with Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford in New York yesterday. Here are some shots of them leaving the restaurant. Jake was seen with Marcus on Monday – click here to see those photos. As mentioned then, Carey is in town working on Skylight on Broadway. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

“You know, you look a lot better without all that black sh-t under your eyes.”

Did she?

Then, maybe. But now?

By today’s standards, at least to me, Ally Sheedy totally looked better in The Breakfast Club BEFORE Claire gave her the hairband makeover. Come on. This…

...is cute, in a Kristen Stewart kind of way.

And this…

Jennifer Garner is currently promoting Danny Collins. It’s about Al Pacino. He’s a songwriter but he writes sh-t songs and then Christopher Plummer, his manager (?), shows him a letter that John Lennon intended for him and I guess he’s rethinking his entire career. Then he goes off to find his long lost son. Full Story

The trailer is promising and according to the excitement pouring out of SXSW, where Trainwreck premiered, the movie delivers. Full Story

In the battle of the Rooney Sisters, where do we stand? For a while there, it seemed like Rooney Mara was ahead of elder sister Kate, and she did bag that Oscar nomination for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But recently she said that the English-language remake of the sequel, The Girl Who Played with Fire, is dead in the water Full Story

Since I’ve been reviewing movies on LaineyGossip, I don’t think you guys have seen me enthusiastically like a movie, so for the first time, here is me enthusiastically liking a movie, no complaints. Cinderella is adorable, a genuinely enjoyable and entertaining family film. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it isn’t as empowering as the Drew Barrymore classic, Ever After. Full Story
