A few months ago Philips approached me to help them with the upcoming launch of their new Sonicare DiamondClean electric toothbrush.  No.  Toothbrush seems inadequate.  Their DiamondClean electric mouth pleaser.  I hosted their media launch event back in May, and in advance of the event they sent me the DiamondClean to try. One problem:  I was away when it arrived and Jacek got his hands on it first.

This is what we fight about: a toothbrush. If you have a lover, may I suggest getting two? It’s like when people argue about the television, only the television doesn’t contribute to your overall hygiene. The comparison is apt though because the DiamondClean has several speeds, makes great sounds, and if I was more of a car person I could come up with an engine analogy here…

For me, it’s pure therapy. I’m the one who showers at least 3 times a day. My obsession with my teeth is whole other neurosis. There have been times when I’ve actually considered rinsing with bleach. This is obviously stupid. Thank you DiamondClean for helping me not be stupid and still free of plaque and bacteria-free.  And also able to pass the tongue test. Nothing is more satisfying than running your tongue along your teeth and feeling that glide.

Here’s a little bit about the brush:

  •  Philips Sonicare DiamondClean removes 100 per cent more plaque in hard-to-reach areas than a manual toothbrush
  •  Philips Sonicare DiamondClean delivers instant results that users will really notice. It is clinically proven to improve gum health in just two weeks and proven to whiten teeth in just one week
  •  It comes with five brush modes- Clean, Polish, Gum Care, White, and Sensitive - that give users a brushing experience tailored to their purpose and a whole mouth clean feeling that really lasts

If you travel, you’ll like that the unit comes with its own recharging case complete with USB port – seriously…who thinks of this stuff?   And when you’re at home, you simply put but the brush, handle down, in the recharging glass and it recharges as it rests using “inductive charging technology”.  Crazy.

Anyway...the DiamondClean will be on store shelves across Canada at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs, Centre du Rasoir and Personal Edge, and retails for $229.99.  Visit to learn more
