As I mentioned last week, 21 Jump Street will be hitting theatres on March 16th.  It’s the theatrical adaptation of 80’s TV series about high-school narcs starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.  In anticipation of the theatrical release and to highlight the bond between the new Jump Street stars, we’re featuring a series of posts celebrating Hollywood Bromances.

Last week it was Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.  Today it’s Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr.

For these two it really did feel like it was love at first sight, right? You don’t go to Sherlock to see Holmes fall in love. You go to Sherlock to see him bicker with his bff. It’s adorable. They’re adorable. What do they actually talk about? Sometimes I feel like it’s mostly RDJ talking and Jude Law laughing.

Did it bother you that Jude had no idea that Susan and RDJ had had their baby Exton? It bothered me a little.  It bothered me that Jude had to be told by the press. In my mind, he would have received a text message. And a video. RDJ seems like he’d be even crazy enough to email a crazy personal photo to his boy, much to the chagrin of his wife.

I mean, when Samuel Affleck was born, I have NO DOUBT that Matt Damon would have been among the first to know. Of course RDJ and Jude didn’t grow up together, and Matt and Ben have a different kind of bond…but still. I want to believe that RDJ and Jude are more than just close-when-we’re-working-together-but-otherwise-not friends.

Let me pretend.

If you missed it last time, here’s the 21 Jump Street trailer:

In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. As they trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, Schmidt and Jenko risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier—and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.
