Drama has great timing

Whenever she was in a spot of trouble, when things weren’t going her away, Elizabeth Taylor had the uncanny ability to summon an illness. And this was no fake cancer bullsh-t, oh no. Elizabeth’s ailments were always legitimate and often life threatening. She would conjure the health drama and almost die (she almost died a lot) and everyone would love her again and pray for her life, and there would be candlelight vigils, and she’d survive, and re-emerge on top. Full Story

So much James Franco

Lainey Posted by Lainey at August 11, 2010 12:28:44 August 11, 2010 12:28:44

I feel about James Franco the way we’re apt to feel about an old boyfriend – don’t want to get with that anymore but (and don’t lie) you want to know the goods: what does he do, did he gain weight, is there a girl/wife, is she as cute as I am? In Franco’s case, even though he’s no longer at the top of the Five List, the curiosity is still there, and it’s not like he’s receded from the spotlight either. Full Story

Robert Pattinson sings in a room

Lainey Posted by Lainey at August 6, 2010 08:33:00 August 6, 2010 08:33:00

Not bad. Pretty sounds good when he sings, non? He sings better than he acts although that’s probably not fair since so far his acting has been limited to Twilight and, well, there’s not much he can do with that sh-t. Video below: Robert Pattinson was recorded performing in a room as part of a project called Songs From A Room in support of emerging artists. Full Story

Kanye on Chanel, fonts, and chances

Lainey Posted by Lainey at August 5, 2010 08:07:14 August 5, 2010 08:07:14

Kanye’s Twitter is, as he would say, totally my sh-t right now. Love it so much. At first I thought it would get contrived and soon. I mean, how long can you sustain 140 characters of brilliance without overthinking it. But he doesn’t. Full Story

Drizzy plays home and brings friends

Lainey Posted by Lainey at August 2, 2010 09:34:00 August 2, 2010 09:34:00

Drake performed at the Molson Amphitheatre last night in hometown Toronto. "I love this city with my entire life.” It was the last stop on his Away From Home tour and he was joined onstage by Rick Ross, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Kardinal Offishall and... Well can you imagine the reaction for Drizzy + Shady? HOT. Full Story

Lola’s Summer Adventures

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 29, 2010 12:50:47 July 29, 2010 12:50:47

Hadn’t had a chance yet this week to write about Lola’s latest blog entry but don’t want to leave for Vegas before indulging in the amazingness that is Madonna’s oldest daughter. 14 year old creatures are entertaining enough as it is. You throw privilege and fame onto that and you get this. Full Story

“I jog in Lanvin”

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 29, 2010 09:53:12 July 29, 2010 09:53:12

Twitter was made for Kanye West. And Kanye West’s real Twitter could just be better than Karl Lagerfeld’s fake one. Kanye joined yesterday in advance of the upcoming release of his new still untitled album in September. As you know, and as I’ve said many times, I am a Kanye apologist. Full Story

New Ferns!

Dinner for Schmucks opens this weekend going up against Zac Efron’s Charlie St Cloud. Charlie so far is not receiving very good reviews. Dinner is faring better, but by no means great. Mixed reception at best from critics and many saying they’ve done a disservice to its French inspiration. Full Story

Don’t stand so close to Bruce Willis

Covering celebrities is a lot of hurry up and wait. Press events always require media to arrive early and then stand around for hours as the stars inevitably run behind. Boring as f-ck yes, but this is always when you exchange war stories, compare notes – who’s a great interview, who has an eating disorder, who can’t go five minutes with locking himself in the bathroom for a quick rail, who bites her fingernails and messes with your shot because she’s nic-fitting all over the junket room. Full Story

Pacey-Con the video

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 27, 2010 07:52:41 July 27, 2010 07:52:41

You saw the photos yesterday, now Funny or Die has uploaded the video. It’s not the best Funny or Die piece ever, it’s a little contrived and obvious, but his shirt makes up for it, and of course the song, and the shot of him looking out his hotel room window kills me. Makes me want to go back and watch Dawson’s Creek from the beginning. Full Story

Pacey-Con

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 26, 2010 09:54:11 July 26, 2010 09:54:11

There’s Robert Pattinson’s unintentional comedy, and then there’s Pacey-Con San Diego 2010. The.Best. He’s the best. Joshua Jackson was at Comic-Con for Fringe. On his down time he decided to go back to Capeside, wardrobe and all, for some fan fiction reading, and of course a little Paula Cole blaring from a boom box. Full Story
