What’s on your binge list during the holidays? If you haven’t watched Atlanta, you should add it. The episode about Vanessa, Donald Glover’s on-off girlfriend, was probably one of the best half hours of television I’ve seen all year. This is not an original thought. Atlanta is critically acclaimed and it brings in the ratings. So there were a lot of people last night who were like, YUP!, when Donald Glover was named Best Actor in a Comedy last night for his work on the show. He too was wearing burgundy, the winning colour.
Atlanta was nominated in the Best Comedy category. Silicon Valley won. Which is why Keith Stanfield, who is on Atlanta, but not on Silicon Valley, got up on stage to accept.
If you know the show, you know this is Darius. I mean just look at his outfit for the night. And how he was posing on the red carpet. Darius is random AF. There’s a really funny storyline on Atlanta with Darius finding a home for a dog (it’s not sad) and the weird sh-t he knows and doesn’t know. My point is, the way he behaved last night was totally in character. So I feel like this was more performance art and shenanigans than actually being pissed about not winning.
Atlanta, by the way, was nominated for two Golden Globes this morning: the Best Comedy Series and Best Actor in a Comedy for Donald Glover.
