August 13, 2014 – Smutty Shout-Outs
Nishaat Sheraly came to The Social in May with her girlfriends. She was feeling good. They enjoyed a great afternoon. And well deserved. Because the last few years have been a challenge. In 2011, Nishaat was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, undergoing four rounds of aggressive chemotherapy. She’s been on the international bone marrow database ever since though no match has been found.
On July 1, Nishaat found out the cancer is back. She’s now undergoing chemo at Princess Margaret Hospital and a bone marrow transplant is mandatory. The problem is that South Asians are very poorly represented on bone marrow registries.
Nishaat is mother to two young boys, 7 and 10. If you are able to, please help.
