Here in Toronto, we are In Formation. It’s Beyoncé Day, as Duana called it over group text today. She was also still trying to rush order a “kale” t-shirt as of 5am this morning. Which I will shame her for later because, like, doing things last minute is totally not the way of Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter. Duana, however, remains unapologetic. As she retorted, “I’m not sorry. You think Bey commits to wearing something if she’s not feeling it?”

But we are all feeling it. Grown ass old women squealing back and forth on our phones all morning like it’s prom. F-ck that. It IS prom. Nonchalance is not allowed tonight…even though, while we in Toronto have spent how many hours thinking about Beyoncé, well, Beyoncé was definitely not thinking about us.

B and Jay Z were in New York last night, holding hands after dinner, strategically. As usual.

Tidal released a remix for Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s All The Way Up last night featuring a verse from Jay Z. And he made a reference:

You know you made it when the fact your marriage made it is worth millions
Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is

I dunno. That’s kinda weak. Maybe he’s saving all his good sh-t for his own album. That said, it can’t be an accident that they stepped out and were willing to be photographed right when he was making that declaration. Because, as we know, with Beyoncé, everything is planned, except if it happens in an elevator. Although Jay manages a sort-of mention about that too:

Prince left his masters where they safe and sound
We never gonna let the elevator take him down

But my favourite is the part about the BIC:

Blue looking like Pac in the tub

Because that’s probably, actually, her life. Tonight my life will be dancing, hopefully under an open dome, surrounded by 6 people I adore. Middle fingers up. Because the line that resonates most with us isn’t “Big Homie better grow up” but the one that comes after…

Me and my whoadies ‘bout to stroll up

In Formation.
