Over & Under the Number 5

When did this become a PR rule for women in Hollywood? Never admit to sleeping with more than 5 men.

Three years ago, Mariah Carey famously claimed:

"Please! I never had any type of sexual relationship with (Eminem). I can count the number of people I've had sex with on fewer than the fingers on one hand."

What Eminem and how many lovers she’s had have to do with one another is still a mystery to me. But that’s her number and it’s also Anna Faris’s number, at least that’s what she said when she was promoting What’s Your Number, going on to wonder whether or not 5 is too low a number for a 35 year old woman, which... thank you for underscoring your modesty, Anna. It wasn’t clear to me before.

Amanda Seyfried covers Glamour Magazine this month. When the writer asked her if she’s enjoying the sexual freedom of not being in a relationship, this was her response:

"No! I’m terrified of being promiscuous. I don’t like the feeling you get when it’s not something that you truly want to do, and I hate the emotional abuse you give yourself afterward. It’s just uncomfortable when you’re with somebody and you’re like, “I don’t really know if I’m even comfortable with this. Why did I? Eww!” I think dating can come without sex."

Now it’s Blake Lively’s turn. In the new issue of ELLE Magazine, Blake tells us how many times she’s been entered:

“I’ve had four boyfriends in my whole life. I’ve never been with anyone that’s not a boyfriend. If I spend time with a man, it’s because there’s somebody that I know well who has been a friend for a while.”

Is this how they’re being coached now?

Do I need to add this to the syllabus if I ever become the Dean of the Faculty of Celebrity Studies at a liberal arts university somewhere in New England?

As for Blake and her boyfriends...

Here’s how she addressed the Leonardo DiCaprio situation with the magazine:

"I was in school every single day (this summer in France)! I'd get off, and, you know, we'd go on a boat in my harbor in my little village, and there'd be people hiding in a bush. Then people said, 'There's photos of you coming out of some hotel.' I was on a school field trip! And my friend at the time joined the school field trip, and we were walking down the street."

Yes. She and her “friend” also held hands in Monte Carlo. And went to Verona! Then she dumped him because Ryan Reynolds called her back.

She’s been charming him with her baked goods ever since. That’s how they roll, you know? Girls with a number lower than 5.
