Many people thought Jacob Tremblay deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance in Room. Brie Larson won the Best Actress Oscar for Room. And what she gave us in that film could not have happened without the other person in that room – Jacob. Jacob was named Best Actor (over Christopher Plummer!) last night at the Canadian Screen Awards. Full Story

The Book Of Negroes is of the most important literary works to come out of Canada. It’s about a woman called Aminata, born in West Africa, kidnapped and sold to slavery in America – a difficult but necessary read. The story was turned into a miniseries airing in Canada on the CBC and in the US on BET and cleaned up at the Canadian Screen Awards this week, including Best Actress in a Series last night for Aunjanue Ellis. The first excerpt from JK Rowling’s History of Magic in North America was posted yesterday, and it focused on Native American wizards. As a half-Oglala Lakota kid who grew up searching for any signs of my culture that wasn’t a mascot, I almost cried reading it. The world of Harry Potter has been uniquely European and primarily British, but now that world is expanding outward and embracing other traditions and cultures. Full Story

It was announced yesterday that on July 31st, which is JK Rowling’s birthday and also Harry Potter’s birthday, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Parts I & II will be published, immediately following the stage production.
Because when the announcement first came out last October, I was one of probably millions of whiney babies who moaned about not being able to get to London’s West End to see the play and whyyyyyy couldn’t it have been a book? Click here for a refresher.
Well now it is a book. NOT A NOVEL.
The story is set 19 years after the end of The Deathly Hallows. Like the Battle of Hogwarts, I’m assuming, and not the epilogue at King’s Cross. And the darkness, it comes back in unexpected places. Well of course it does. What’s life without some darkness, even for those who live among magic? So, basically, there is no happily ever after. There are just stretches of happiness balanced out by challenges. Sound familiar? That’s what good luck, bad luck, and feng shui is all about too!
Yours in gossip,
Gwyneth did it. Cameron did it. So, naturally, it’s Kate Hudson’s turn. To write a book, giving you advice on how to love your body. Were you waiting for this? Before you answer, please consider the synopsis from the publisher: “I didn’t just wake up one day understanding how to take care of myself. Full Story
I can’t find any photos of Cameron Diaz on a red carpet in 2015. The last I remember her being on a red carpet was to promote Annie in December 2014. Two weeks after that she got married. And then Cam, one of the most well paid actresses in the world for a while, went quiet for a year. She hasn't actually been on a film set since Annie. Full Story

Nicole Kidman attended the UNICEF Ball in Beverly Hills last night. If she’d been at the Globes on Sunday wearing this? It would have been my Best Dressed. Spectacular. Nicole’s in LA right now working on the HBO adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies. You read it, right? It was confirmed last year that Nicole and Reese Witherspoon acquired the rights to the book and that David E Kelley would be writing it. Full Story
