Us Weekly laid claim to the official confirmation this week: Brad and Angelina have bought a home in New Orleans, the French Quarter, and are said to be enrolling their children into local schools, making a permanent move away from LA to The Big Easy. Warning: Gloat ahead. Stop reading if you can’t stand it…but didn’t you know that already? As I first reported exclusively back in November Full Story

The Pragmatic Courteney Cox

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 17, 2007 12:00:00 January 17, 2007 12:00:00

In case you haven’t heard, Courteney Cox has something to sell. It’s a tv show called Dirt, satirising the underbelly of tabloid journalism – she is the star and executive producer. I saw the pilot, definitely has potential, and super raunch in parts – a nice change from the sugar she’s best known for, certainly has a shot at success…especially since she is workin’ it all angles. Full Story

Best Bitch & Clutch: the Perfect Pitts

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 16, 2007 12:00:00 January 16, 2007 12:00:00

Can you stop looking at Angelina Jolie? I can’t stop looking at Angelina Jolie. And about the dress… do I love the dress? Well..the dress is ok. But the dress on HER is something else. And that’s the thing about Angie, I suppose. She’ll never be a conventional clothes horse because you’ll never really look at the clothes when she’s in them anway, you know what I mean? As for the clutch – as expected, she hung off of him all night, close embraces along the carpet, shoulder to shoulder during dinner, and the most intimate caress at the very end of the show after the Babel win, her hand on the back of his neck… did you catch that? Tender and sexy at the same time – a cleverly timed glimpse into their private hotness but still, when it looks that good, who cares if they’re campaigning? As for why she blew off Ryan Seacrest, as I understand it, she wanted to hang back and give Brad the spotlight but when faced with a series of inane questions, she apparently cut Ryan off and walked away. Full Story

Patrick Dempsey: Healthy Ego or Egomaniacal?

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 12, 2007 12:00:00 January 12, 2007 12:00:00

On the cover of Details this month – a rather candid interview in which he discusses his re-ascent and his future. As you know, I’m not a huge fan. Not that I particularly dislike him (those sentiments are reserved for the stone-faced wife), I just don’t particularly care. There’s no swooning, there’s no sh-t-losing, and there’s definitely no panty ripping …unlike my eTalk producer Jennifer who has plastered his face all over her desk. Full Story

Two Shades of Jennifer Aniston

Well if it’s not black, it’s light pink/peach/cream with a few sequins but you know what? For once, let’s not focus on the boring, let’s focus instead on the brave. Because isn’t that what yoga brings to your life? Isn’t that the way of the Ocean? And isn’t that what they’ll all say today? “Jen was so brave to show up at the People’s Choice Awards knowing Vince was also winning last night, knowing what the tabs have been saying, knowing that the Pitts are in the midst of a full-fledged campaign on the road to Oscar…how much COURAGE must it have taken for her to get out of bed yesterday to face the cameras?” Yes, gossips…brave indeed. Full Story

The Other Family Travels to London

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2007 12:00:00 January 9, 2007 12:00:00

Everyone talks about the diversity of the Family Pitt and their wonderful family values…totally agree. But I also love the diversity of the Family Smith and THEIR wonderful family values. Will’s first son is from a previous relationship, Jada has treated Trey like her own, and they have opened up their home on every occasion to Trey’s mother –it’s the kind of situation people SAY they would totally subscribe to in theory but it never works out that way in practice, does it? But so go the Smiths and I love them for it. Full Story

Nicole Kidman: birthing the Pitts

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2007 12:00:00 January 9, 2007 12:00:00

A largely forgotten fact – it was Nicole who was originally slated to play opposite Brad Pitt in Mr & Mrs Smith. She dropped out, Angie stepped, Smut Supernova…the Gossip Couple of our Time. As such, we owe Ms Kidman some gratitude. And perhaps sympathy too? Now that her famewhore agenda has been exposed, now that we understand the lengths she’s willing to travel for a piece of publicity pie, for sympathy, for attention…no doubt she must be wistfully regarding the Family Pitt and their explosive union with more than a little regret. Full Story

The Powerful Pitts working hard

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 9, 2007 12:00:00 January 9, 2007 12:00:00

Last night at the premiere of God Grew Tired of Us – darling at Sundance and critically acclaimed film about three Sudanese men who find success after struggle and leave home for America without abandoning those they left behind. Brad is an executive producer of the project, hence the heavy sales pitch last night with his beguiling companion…and did they ever work it hardcore. Full Story

Brad Pitt: Travel-weary and Ashley Wilkes?

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 8, 2007 12:00:00 January 8, 2007 12:00:00

Ever read Gone With the Wind? Or seen the movie? The most frustrating part for me – I never, ever, ever understood how the precocious Scarlett O’Hara could delude herself into loving the limp and insipid Ashley Wilkes…which I suppose is the whole point but still, it drives me crazy to this day. And maybe that’s why I’ve never found men like “Ashley Wilkes” or Leslie Howard very attractive. Full Story

Kidman & Bond inspired by the Pitts?

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 3, 2007 12:00:00 January 3, 2007 12:00:00

Is it just me or does this new photoshoot for W remind you of the Pitts’ infamous “dysfunctional family” spread last year? Something about the seductive yet sinister feel of the images? Maybe it’s just me. So here she is, airbrushed but totally gorgeous and sexy as all hell, alongside the new triumphant Bond – they look fantastic together, non? Makes me wonder – why did she have to hire from Country? Why not Daniel Craig? Love Nicole with straight hair and I especially love it when she plays sultry vixen…SO much more convincing than devoted small town housewife raising her kids and relaxing in the cornfields. Full Story

The Pitts: NOLA for one year?

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 3, 2007 12:00:00 January 3, 2007 12:00:00

A few weeks ago, I reported exclusively on a tip from local sources that the Pitts had apparently acquired a property in New Orleans and that it was undergoing renovation. Fresh scoop again from Louisiana that the First Family of Hollywood is considering a move there, perhaps for a year, and that they’ve actually sent along a few assistants to look into schools for Maddox and Zahara. Full Story
