Breaking Bad Season 3 Episode 10 recap Last week I said this episode would be called The Box, but it's actually called Buried. But who on Breaking Bad has ever been a hole in the desert? People aren't buried, they are liquefied into nothing. Secrets can be buried though, although none of them very deep. Full Story

Aaron Paul and Ethan Hawke: Two Awesome Reddits

Aaron Paul has been hyping the sh-t out of Breaking Bad (and did you see the first episode? Wouldn't you?!) and if you follow him on Twitter, you'll notice he does a lot of charity work, particularly in support of his wife's non-profit, Kind Campaign. This week he participated in a two hour Reddit AMA (isn't that forever by internet standards?) and I tried to follow along live but it was too confusing, so I just read through the question and answer bits (not the threads of comments, it's just too much). Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 9 recap. I spent my entire Sunday watching the first part of season five and realized that the meth business was always my least favourite part of the show. Drug dealing only has so many solutions and endings - murder, money, jail, more murder. This story isn't about meth; it’s about a man grappling with mortality, failure, power and his own propensity for sociopathic behaviour. Full Story

Aaron Paul: I love all the Bitches

You know when you babysit a kid, and then their family moves away and 15 years later you run into him and he’s a full-on adult? That’s how I felt watching this clip of Aaron Paul. Clearly, marriage suits him very well. He looks happy and grown-up – he’s been busy with Need for Speed since the last episodes Breaking Bad wrapped and has a huge amount of press to do before the August 11 premiere date. Full Story

Cranston and Jackman

Two decent men. Two wonderful actors. I thought it’d be a nice way to end another day of bad news. Here’s Hugh Jackman in London at the premiere The Wolverine. He’s awesome and generous and great at his job, all aspects of it, as usual. And here’s Bryan Cranston getting his star on the Walk of Fame, supported by his Breaking Bad costars Aaron Paul, who looks happier for Cranston than he would for himself, Anna Gunn, R. Full Story

“All Bad things must come to an end”

Maria Posted by Maria at June 10, 2013 19:40:38 June 10, 2013 19:40:38

Shivers. Breaking Bad is back on August 11. And this is it – the end. They released a new poster and it is ominous, with just a tag line and a fair bit of smoke. So what does it mean? We can talk about the symbolism forever, from the obvious (meth is smoked) to the abstract (Walt has been playing with fire, and now everything will be burned). Full Story

Season 5 Episode 8: A dead man’s thoughtfulness

Maria Posted by Maria at September 4, 2012 15:29:21 September 4, 2012 15:29:21

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 8 recap I had a long intro that I worked on over the week: it was about Mike’s loyalty to his crew and Walt’s constant demand for gratification and accolades. But once I watched the episode I scrapped it because Breaking Bad moves quickly; yes it is layered, nuanced and complicated, but it also tells a linear story that evolves and grows even if, as viewers, we aren’t emotionally done with a character yet. Full Story

Episode 7: Bald is Beautiful

Maria Posted by Maria at August 27, 2012 18:20:51 August 27, 2012 18:20:51

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 7 recap Is anyone cheering for Walt anymore? I can’t remember the last time I wanted something to go right for him. It seems the Walt worth cheering for hasn’t appeared, for me at least, since about the time he gave up the second cell phone. I don’t know if I want Walt to die, but I want him to suffer. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 6: I’m in the Empire Business

Maria Posted by Maria at August 20, 2012 18:34:23 August 20, 2012 18:34:23

There is no doubt the boy shot at the end of last episode is dead: Mike, Walt and Todd disassemble the bike and place the parts in a tub. No Jesse. They work quickly and wordlessly. Mike looks tired; Walt uses acid to dissolve the bike. Todd digs through a pile of dirt and a little hand pokes through as Walt wearily prepares a new tub for disintegration. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 5: Stop That Train

Maria Posted by Maria at August 13, 2012 19:26:50 August 13, 2012 19:26:50

Why is 5/5 making me nervous? I feel something heavy in the air. The duality of Walt (chemistry teacher/ambitious meth cooker) has been done away with. Now it’s all Heisenberg, all the time. But episode one gave a glimpse into the future (Walt’s full head of hair and diner breakfast), so Heisenberg’s fall is to come. Full Story

Breaking Bad Season 5, Episode 4: How Skyler Got Her Groove Back

Maria Posted by Maria at August 6, 2012 17:41:24 August 6, 2012 17:41:24

Walt and Walt Jr. are at a body shop picking up the white SUV (I think from when Walt ran into a car on purpose to avoid going to the superlab with Hank). The mechanic describes the car as sturdy, reliable and with lots of life left in it; that description triggers something in Walt. That practical car was Walt, not Heisenberg. Full Story
