I need to get to Calgary more often. And I’m not just saying this because I was “White Hatted” with Chantal Kreviazuk! It’s, um, now the only thing I have in common with Prince William and Catherine. Thank you so much, Calgary, for such an incredible honour.
I was in Calgary last week to kick off the holiday season and to celebrate the million dollar newly renovated CORE (TD Square/Holt Renfrew), Calgary’s only downtown shopping centre. We finally have photos from the event where I hosted the red carpet; it was a privilege to meet all of you, and I can’t say enough about how lovely and friendly and courteous everyone in Calgary was during my stay.
With over 7,500 people in attendance, Twas the Night was the biggest after-hours holiday shopping benefit Calgary had ever seen. The CORE’s recent a massive renovation included the installation of the largest skylight of its kind in Canada. And can you beat free valet parking?
Juno Award winning artist Chantal Kreviazuk performed after the lighting of the CORE’s gorgeous 45 foot Christmas tree (the largest in Western Canada), complemented by a spectacular indoor fireworks display. And all for two great causes as $40,000 was raised in support of the National Music Centre Project and “Because”, a next generation initiative of the United Way of Calgary and Area. Thank you all so much for your generosity!
If you attended and would like to see your picture from the big night, click here to visit the CORE’s Facebook page. They’ve posted many photos of the festivities.
Calgary - I’ll be back for Stampede. For real. Until then, Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays, and see you in 2012!
PS. Your mayor is a BADASS. (Hi Erin!)
