As I reported yesterday, Guillaume Canet was not in Cannes with Marion Cotillard yesterday for the premiere of De Rouille et d’os. Guillaume stayed back with Marcel in New York where he’s directing Blood Ties. How CUTE are these pictures of him playing with his boy? That child’s face is the exact perfect combination of his parents. Full Story

Diane Kruger was recognised last night at the Calvin Klein Collection and euphoria Calvin Klein party in association with the IFP to celebrate women in film. (This is where the linen cocktail napkins were happening.)  It gets cool at night here in Cannes. Diane, in Calvin Klein, had a black wrap around her shoulders when we saw her come in with Joshua Jackson. Full Story

Marion Cotillard has been to Cannes, obviously. But she’s never been to Cannes with a film in competition. Marcel was born last year during Cannes when Midnight In Paris was presented. She’s here now for Jacques Audiard’s De Rouille et d’os (Rust & Bone). The screening was this morning at 8:30am and I suck because I could not get my ass out of bed for it. Full Story

While George Clooney talks to dogs and Stacy Keibler lives at “our house”, her predecessor is in Cannes, getting groped on a yacht by Admiral General Aladeen.  I mean...I guess you always go back to your beginnings. Which means someday I’ll be a nerd again with thick glasses following around mah-jong ladies in Hong Kong. Full Story

(Lainey: I’m still catching up after flying overnight to Cannes. Trying to rush out a few new articles but let’s start first with Sarah’s Cannes preview since they’re all starting to arrive. I screen Moonrise Kingdom tonight. Attached - the cast at the photo call today.) The Cannes Film Festival is always glamorous and Hollywood is always well represented, but this year seems particularly heavy on the star power, headed, of course, by the Brange. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Most of the Cannes lineup was announced this morning in Paris. As expected, Brad Pitt’s Killing Them Softly will premiere at the Palais des Festivals. Which means, again, the Brange will walk that carpet, the red steps, and, as they do, take over the Croisette. I’ve been to Cannes 6 times, this year will be my 7th. And, if the business is gossip, it’s always better when they’re around. It’s best when they’re around and she’s pregnant. Then again, I’ve never tried it with them engaged. But you see, as I wrote the other day when they dropped their ring on the world, their timing, always, is pure genius, isn’t it?

You know Killing Them Softly is a Weinstein title, right? The film premieres in September. And you know what Harvey Weinstein does around Oscar season, don’t you? Harvey obviously has more authority over some stars than he does others.  Read Full Intro
