Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’o are both presenting at the Oscars on Sunday. No idea if they’re presenting together, but they’re both riding the Black Panther high—and it will be the dominant film again on Oscar weekend which, if Get Out were to pull off some kind of upset, would be serendipitous—so they both get to do that superhero strut on stage, together or separate. Sarah saw Black Panther last night. Her first e-mail to me after her screening was, of course, about Okoye. I’ve BEEN telling y’all about Danai Gurira’s Okoye. People are going to lose their sh-t over Okoye. They are going to be demanding a standalone Okoye film. The same can be said for Letitia Wright’s Shuri or Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia. Full Story

My day job is producing a daytime talk show. Lainey is one of the co-hosts of that show. I am our celebrity and entertainment producer so crafting segments featuring celebrities, pre-interviewing them and talking to them is my job. I do it all the time. I scream at all of you in all caps a lot and I don’t hide how much of a fan girl I am at my core but at work, I usually keep my chill (Taika Waititi was the exception Full Story
Royal attire requested

The official dress code of the Black Panther premiere was royal. The carpet was purple. Attendees were told to dress in their majestic best and my GOD, did they deliver. I don’t mean to be extra here but in a year when the people most of the world recognize as Royals (yes, the British ones) will welcome their first black Princess (or Duchess, whatever) and we’ve already seen her face her share of racist bullsh-t, a red carpet like this is radical. Welcome to Wakanda
The second trailer for Black Panther has arrived, to be attached to Thor: Ragnarok, and it gives us a better look at the world of Wakanda, which looks AMAZING. The combo of traditional African art and fashion with the high-tech comic book wizardry of Wakanda is super f*cking cool, and the costumes, in particular, are incredible. Full Story
All Eyez On Me review

In April, I said a prayer to Blue Ivy, our dear sweet lamb of Beyoncé, that All Eyez on Me would be good. Every piece I've written leading up to the release of the biopic about Tupac Shakur's life and legacy has essentially been a fingers-crossed, hold-my-breath wish that the film would be as compelling as its source material. Black Panther: the first trailer
It has been approximately 72 hours since the Black Panther teaser trailer was released and I have yet to find anything resembling chill when it comes to this 1 minute and 54 second preview. I screamed out loud three times during my first watch. The second time, I teared up a bit. By the third, my partner had to take my phone away and say, “OK. Full Story
The Walking Dead: I Quit

SPOILERS The producers behind The Walking Dead spent all summer promising that the arrival of the villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) would be a reset for the show, which is tacitly admitting that something had gone wrong and they needed a big new character to drive the show back on track. All eyes on Tupac’s biopic
The teaser trailer for the upcoming Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me came out on his 45th birthday. The full trailer was released yesterday, on the 20th anniversary of his death. It has been TWENTY years since Pac died. There are full grown adults of drinking age who don’t remember a music world in which Tupac Shakur existed. Full Story
