Oscars Best Speech: Daniel Day-Lewis

They were essentially saying the same thing, Daniel Day-Lewis and Ben Affleck, right? They were appreciating their supportive wives. Ben chose to phrase it so that it was his wife’s primary responsibility to “work” on their marriage. DDL acknowledged that his wife had to deal with his artistic eccentricities, and somehow it was charming, while Ben’s probably didn’t sit well with many of us, right? What’s the difference? Is it the accent? Is it that DDL is a more accomplished public speaker? And the way the Miller-Day-Lewises behave on the campaign circuit as opposed to the Afflecks? All of the above?
And besides, my God, he is just such an elegant, elegant man. But also…geeky too. After he honours Rebecca for sleeping with so many different change friends, he giggles, like a total nerd, and it is so SO sexy.
DDL is now the first man to win Best Actor THREE times. He is… the very, very best. And he was bestowed the honour by Meryl Streep, also the very, very best. It was fated then.
