December 16, 2011 - Smutty Shout-Outs
Thank you for your lovely, honest letter. And Happy Birthday! How much do I love you for namechecking Dorian Gray? How much do I admire you for the courage you’ve demonstrated in facing the people who’ve never been kind to you, not your whole life? It sounds like you’ve had a lonely few years. And sometimes, I know, being right and doing the right thing can only make you feel lonelier. As you said though, there’s a dearth of beauty in the world. Which means when you find it and/or when you can create it, you must keep it and keeping doing it. That which is truly beautiful, it will never turn its back on your, or accuse you, or disown you, or call you a traitor and assassinate your character. You, this, reminds me of a book I really, really, REALLY love. I hope it’s ok to say that. And I hope if you haven’t read it that you find it and start now. It’s called The Elegance Of The Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. Don’t think about moving just yet. But let me know your thoughts on it when you’re done. Thank you for calling me a part of your community. This is a great honour. I’m happy to know you are in a better place today. I wish you more of these days to end the year. And an even larger majority of them in 2012. Stay in touch, ok? Love, Lainey
Happy 29th Birthday Christine with so much love from Rosalyn in Honolulu who told me how the two of you, along with Michelle, feel about Dillon, and Taylor Kitsch, and about the time you all did NOT embarrass yourselves over him at Whineo’s at Christmas. Well. Done. When you, Michelle, and Rosalyn find yourselves all back in Vancouver one day, please let’s have a drink. And spend at least an hour talking about Smash, his ma, Landry, Matt and Julie, we’ll trash the McCoys and name Tim and Tyra’s kids. Sound good? Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose. God, I miss them. Like, I just cried again watching this trailer.
Rebekah! Happy Birthday! You are too, too, too sweet to share your birthday mojo with my ma. And besides, you know my ma. Then she’d feel like she’d owe you and we would all never hear the end of it. Save it for yourself. For a year ahead that’s full of great gossip, and you finally coming to SMUT? That seems like the BEST use for birthday mojo, non? Christmas Is All Around, Rebekah. Only it’s notoriously hard to find an embeddable clip. I hope this one works for you, even if there’s no swimming. The side shuffle works well too though, doesn’t it? What about the way he fondles himself in front of the mirror? There’s something about the Polish writing all over the screen that is cracking me up too. Enjoy!
For Leslie F from Amanda who wants you to know how impressed everyone is - with your strength and courage and your grace, but most of all your humour, through the treatment and the tragedy. You are LOVED.
