Here’s Mark Wahlberg at the premiere of Lone Survivor last night. After the screening, he attended a Q&A and went off about actors comparing their lives and their preparation for film to what real soldiers and victims actually go through.

“I don’t know it just hit me in a way that uh … I don’t know, it just really upset me that those guys were never gonna see their families again. For actors to sit there and talk about ‘Oh I went to SEAL training,’ and I slept on the — I don’t give a f-ck what you did. You don’t do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as somebody in the military’s. How f-cking dare you. While you sit in a makeup chair for two hours.” “I don’t give a shit if you get your ass busted. You get to go home at the end of the day. You get to go to your hotel room. You get to order fucking chicken. Or your steak. Whatever the fuck it is.”

Many people are now interpreting this as a direct response to Tom Cruise’s remarks during his deposition against IN TOUCH magazine, when he supposedly said that his film commitment is like being in Afghanistan. Those comments have since been clarified – that was not his intention, though, as so happens in these situations, the clarification was not as widely reported as the initial accusation.

It’s not the first time Marky Mark has taken a shot at the GMD. Remember when he was on Top Gear and he talked about how they go to different churches? Click here for a refresher.

OK…but…

With the exception of God and Xenu, aren’t they more similar than not? They both swagger. They both tough talk. Tom Cruise jumps off boats to rescue people. Marky Mark punches you in the face with his masculinity. And they’re always positioning themselves as the hero.

“I gave (Ben Foster) half my salary (to be in Lone Survivor), whatever I gave him, to do it because I knew how great he was and for us to be on that mountain together and in the end of it, I could just look at him and it would break my heart knowing that – God, that’s my brother and I may never see him again.”

And don’t forget – here’s a guy who also once suggested that he might have been able to stop the terrorists on one of the planes on 9/11.

You don’t even have to squint too hard to see that they’re essentially the same dude.
