When last we heard from the Fifty Shades movie-verse, EL James’s husband, Niall Leonard, had signed on to write the script for the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker. Now we have an update—the search for a director is down to the negotiations stage, with James Foley emerging as the frontrunner. Full Story

Jamie Dornan was in Prague today promoting Anthropoid. He looks GOOD. I quite like this shot of him sticking his tongue out. On the subject of tongues… Grey, the book. You read it? Click here if you missed Maria’s review. I’ve stopped at 20%. Full Story

Yesterday, Lainey wrote about the #AskELJames hashtag hijacking (click here for a refresher) and, having read the book, I can understand where (and who) those tweets are coming from. People like me who spent $11.99 on Grey. I’ll start with the bad and get to the worse (things won’t get better): Grey is not the worst book I’ve ever read. Full Story

Have you been following this on Twitter? If not, do a search for #AskELJames. E.L. James, the author of Fifty Shades Of Grey, decided to participate in a Twitter chat today, I guess to promote the new book, Grey, and, well… That’s kind of Twitter is for, isn’t it? Here’s a sample: Will you be rewriting the book from Stephenie Meyer's point of view next time? #AskELJames Full Story

50 Shades of Repetition

Maria Posted by Maria at June 1, 2015 17:15:16 June 1, 2015 17:15:16

Well, we suspected it was coming, right? EL James has announced a new book, titled Grey, that will cover the same ground as 50 Shades of Grey, but from Christian’s perspective. Hasn’t it all been from Christian’s perspective? It’s not like Ana had a strong POV or was a fully formed character. Full Story

Fifty Shades Of Grey was a smash hit at the box office. There should have been only good news coming out of its theatrical release. Except instead of positive headlines, all the focus was on the fact that they couldn’t get their sh-t together for the sequel(s) because EL James is difficult to work with. Full Story

Sam Taylor-Johnson is done

Lainey Posted by Lainey at March 26, 2015 13:35:00 March 26, 2015 13:35:00

Not exactly a surprise. Sam Taylor-Johnson didn’t bother trying to pretend during interviews leading up to the release of Fifty Shades Of Grey that there wasn’t creative conflict between her and author EL James. So the speculation that she would not return to direct the sequels was more than justified. Full Story

It’s too bad. Because if you’ve seen Fifty Shades Of Grey, you know he needs more finish. I’ll say it again: more come face, give us more come face! Four or five sex scenes and no climax? How is this allowed?!? So anyway, about those rumours this week that he’s done with Christian Grey and wants out of the sequels, Dornan’s rep has now released a full statement, denying that he’s trying to get out of the franchise, instead confirming that he wants to keep going for more: "Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film. Full Story
