Loving John Malkovich

Have you seen Dangerous Liaisons? With Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer and the incomparable John Malkovich? If not, you"re missing out. Go get it. It is the most beautifully written, elegant movie, like, ever. The dialogue is sublime. I remember watching it with my friend Julia in high school and walking around for several days afterwards speaking in riddles with an affected British accent (just like Gwyneth!) until my friends told me to shut the f*ck up. Anyway, after this movie, I fell in love with John Malkovich. Not because he"s attractive, because he"s obviously not. Not because he has a lot of hair, because he obviously doesn"t. As you can see, it has nothing to do with the physical. But there was something about his performance, something about the way he said, "It is beyond my control" with such conviction and heartbreak that stayed with me for a long time. Since then, I"ve always admired his work. I loved Being John Malkovich. I even loved him as a psycho in In the Line of Fire. And I especially loved him as KGB in the poker classic Rounders. That russian accent is beyond hilarious. I think it would be kick ass to be his friend. He"s quirky, he"s arty, he"s a maybe gaybe…In essence, the man is a cool cat. So if any of you see him at Sundance, would you please tell him I said hi? Thank you. I really appreciate it.
