You know that description of Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, when Harry is post-life in the way station between places? “…Raw and rough…it had been left, unwanted, stuffed out of sight, struggling for breath.” Voldemort, defeated, provides the most apt description of Justice League, a messy movie which never manages to choose a path, and feels as though it was abandoned as everyone agreed to just write it off as the last vestige of Zack Snyder’s misfiring creative vision for the DC cinematic universe. Full Story

The big question mark in November’s box office is what is going to happen with Justice League. We’ve already seen the numbers Thor: Ragnarok put up, and now the question is, how much more can one month support? The story of 2017 at the box office—and previous years, honestly, it’s just been better masked by bigger blockbusters—is one of declining and pickier audiences. Full Story

As mentioned earlier, yesterday was Warner Bros’ turn to present at CinemaCon. And so they brought out the Justice League, without the superhero we care most about at this point: Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot gave birth recently so she’s not available which is why, I dunno, the whole vibe seemed so… dull? They’re calling this Ben Affleck Full Story

Justice League steps down

Sarah Posted by Sarah at March 27, 2017 13:33:59 March 27, 2017 13:33:59

Last summer at Comic-Con Warner Brothers/DC unveiled the first look at Justice League, and it wasn’t completely awful. But in case you were feeling cautiously optimistic that Warners/DC could fix their sh*t and turn out a good Justice League movie—don’t. Full Story

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: let the beasts be free

Sarah Posted by Sarah at November 21, 2016 16:31:23 November 21, 2016 16:31:23

Lainey can’t believe I’m Gryffindor. We had a whole conversation about it—she thinks I should be Ravenclaw-but if you need proof, Lainey is a loud and proud Slytherin, and Gryffindors live to cockblock Slytherins, which will explain my review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which I didn’t love. Full Story

But it does have a really cool golden bird. A new trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has come out and this one gives a better look at Newt Scamander’s many fantastic beasts, among them, a golden bird that is maybe a thunderbird. There are, however, no owls. Am very disappointed as I got a great grey owl Full Story

Sarah covered WB’s superhero onslaught at Comic-Con earlier today. For me, like her, the highlight of all that was Wonder Woman. Otherwise the Warner Bros release I’m most looking forward to is Fantastic Beasts. Another trailer was presented during the panel along with wands but not before they all cast the spell, with Eddie Redmayne Full Story

The other big superhero team Warner Brothers/DC showed off at Comic-Con is the Justice League, with the debut of the first trailer for the movie. Unlike Superhero Face Punch, which was teased for three years, this will be a relatively short wait, as Justice League—no longer “Part 1”—is due next year, in November. Full Story
