February 1, 2016 – Smutty Shout-Outs
This is a shameless shout-out for me. On February 24th, I will be competing in a fitness competition called Guts + Glory in support of Covenant House alongside 5 teammates. There are 10 challenges and they are stupid hard, like f-ck. Pretty sure getting over a wall with a rope is one of them. This is a problem for me because, even though I work out, I’m not athletic. Jacek always says I have an embarrassing centre of gravity. Which is why I do everything ass-first. Also I have pathetically weak arms. The other teams are made up of super aggro banker and finance dudes and high-achievers. You know the type. Needless to say, I will be our team’s weakest link. And that means I have to bring it on the fundraising side. If you would like to support me, please click here.
If you are making a donation – THANK YOU! – please make sure you’re directing it to the right team or to my name. Our team is “CTV”. My name is “Lainey Lui”. Your gift will give me confidence, but more importantly, it will support young people living on the streets who are struggling every day with abuse, addiction, and neglect. Your encouragement will mean hope – hope that they’ll be able to rebuild their lives, that they can move beyond being written off, and can instead rewrite their own futures. On February 24th, I’ll be trying, probably to the point of vomiting, to get over several hurdles, and pushing myself as hard as I can. But afterwards, I’ll get to come home, get into the shower, warm up my sore muscles, and fall asleep in safety. At-risk youth don’t have those options. Our team is hoping you might help to show them there are options. And that you believe in them.
Thank you so much in advance for your generosity. And, um, if you live in Toronto and you just want to show up to come laugh at me, that works too. February 24th, 5pm – 11pm. Moss Park Armoury. See you there.
