When I was growing up, my ma disapproved of me going out if I was on my period. She thought that menstruating weakened the body, and that I’d collapse somewhere and risk permanent damage. For some reason, this never applied to school. It still bothers her when I go out on my period. In her mind, having fun + having your period results in energy loss that could be potentially fatal. It’s a belief she picked up from her grandmother in the old village. Period mythology is so weird.

U by Kotex® is asking girls to share their experiences, get the facts, and talk about what it’s like to deal with vaginal wellness without making it feel awkward or inappropriate. You can do that by pledging to be part of Generation Know*. By taking the pledge, you will be exposed to the misinformation and commit to learning more about your body and passing that information on.

If you’re interested in joining Generation Know*, visit any Shoppers Drug Mart® and collect a Generation Know* information pack. In it you will find tools to help you gain an understanding of vaginal wellness, to be comfortable with asking questions, gain and spread that knowledge to your girlfriends, and to arm yourself with the truth with the help of the only straight-talking, honest brand in the femcare aisle, Kotex®.

While you’re there, pick up a pack of Kotex tampons or pads and you can double your chances at winning an amazing Festival experience in Toronto as a part of our “Festival Hopping with U by Kotex®” contest -- You, your BFF, luxe accommodations, spending cash, and full-on pampering.  Your entry (with or without the bonus option) will also qualify you for draws for a chance at a $150 Shoppers Drug Mart gift card for each day during the contest period (April 26-May 27, 2013).  Tons of prizes to be won! Full details and rules are here.  Good luck!
