Written by Jacek Lainey’s down for the count after essentially 24 hours of Olympic coverage and blogging and this one can’t wait. Forgive the “newsy” feel. I’ll try to come back to my roots and answer the question “fake or real” or something along those lines a bit later. Full Story

Ladies at the luncheon

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 15, 2010 18:11:00 February 15, 2010 18:11:00

Today was the annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon. Notably absent: George Clooney. It’s a non-campaign year for Clooney. Looks like he’s conceding early to Jeff Bridges. But enough of the boys. It was called Hope For Haiti Now but he was the driving force behind much of the celebrity turnout with three rows of stars making up the most famous call centre on the planet raising more than $57 million for earthquake relief with some of the most moving, most emotional, most memorable performances we’ve seen in a long, long time. Full Story

Low on drama and not even Meryl Streep could understand what Christoph Waltz was saying and George didn’t come with the Italian Queen. He did however present the final award of the night. Because George Clooney is the Chairman. And he looked so great, didn’t he look so great? Tired but exhilarated from the night before after managing a celebrity call centre and raising almost $60 million, now that’s a beard I can work with. Full Story

The Italian Queen on Italian TV

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 22, 2010 07:57:23 January 22, 2010 07:57:23

Since yesterday’s Beckham ball-grabbing post, I have been obsessed with the amazingness of Italian television. F-cking crazy. We need more. It’s cheese and weird and camp and obnoxious all at the same time and the Italian Queen Elisabetta Canalis, now whitewashed for the American public, used to be all over it. Full Story

Quietest Globe Beard: George Clooney

George has other things on his mind. Like, bless him, the Haiti telethon on January 22nd. But George arrived, always the consummate star, signed autographs for the bleacher fans, and his Italian Queen by his side. Would have been the moment of all moments if we could have seen George introduce Elisabetta Canalis to Julia Roberts, non? But they haven’t thought of it yet. Full Story

The Italian Queen’s New York pants

I’ve been accused at times of speaking in hyperbole but it’s impossible to overstate the Italian Queen’s impressive trajectory: in 6 short months she has been whitewashed and elevated, lauded by his friends and associates, accepted in the most elite circles. You think that Larson broad was invited to regularly roll with the Brange? Come on now. Full Story

Clooney opportunities

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 11, 2010 06:59:39 January 11, 2010 06:59:39

The year’s first major awards show is less than a week away. And George Clooney insists he’s not campaigning. Sure. But given that he’s paraded his Ely on almost every carpet since they started dating last summer, it is very likely that he’ll show up with her at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Full Story

George’s “no campaign” campaign

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 8, 2010 06:55:13 January 8, 2010 06:55:13

Clooney and Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga were on the cover of Entertainment Weekly last week and the interview was charming. He has a lot of affection for young Anna. He concedes that she steals the movie, and she does, and he also answers that ubiquitous question: Team Edward or Team Jacob? George Clooney says TEAM ANNA. Full Story
