Gladly. This is Cate Blanchett with husband Andrew Upton arriving at the Sydney Opera House for the Helpmann 2009 Awards honouring the performing arts. Cate and Andrew are currently co-artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company and Cate was nominated, though did not win, for Best Actress. Love her so much. Full Story

Emma Thompson adopted an African son. It did not make headlines around the world. And he wasn’t a toddler at the time. His name is Tindy and he was welcomed into Emma’s family when he was 16, a Rwandan refugee newly arrived in England after fleeing the war torn country. They met at a Refugee Council event six years ago. Full Story

Rashida has great taste

Michelle, Duana and I were moaning about Zadie Smith last year – so young, so brilliant, has taught at Harvard and Columbia, and will become a full professor at NYU in 2010. She’s only 33. Love her. Hate her! We felt even worse about ourselves after reading this article on Jon Favreau, President Obama’s chief speechwriter, then just 26 years old and featured in the New York Times. Full Story

Alanis in a groove

These are high times for Alanis Morissette. It’s a weak line, but it works. As you know, Alanis is enjoying a 7 ep arc on Weeds (please say you watch Weeds, please say you watch Weeds and not the other bullsh-t) after wrapping a successful 2 year run with Flavours of Entanglement, is supposed to star in a film adapted from Radio Free Albemuth, is happy and healthy, is involved with a non celebrity, and looks better than she ever has. Full Story

An afternoon with the Potter kids

Let’s start with Bonnie Wright. She’s tiny. Was wearing flats, as was I, and we’re the same height, only she’s thinner, though not unhealthy. Very still, small movements, extremely articulate, quite reserved. Funnily enough, it’s the Weasleys with the low energy, and Harry and Hermione who are much more animated. Full Story

She is the current face of Dior, starred in the House’s recent Lady Noire Affaire, and will soon be seen in the next installment Lady Red, shot in New York by Annie Leibovitz. That bag… oh la. The ads will begin running in August. And yesterday, in Paris for fashion week, front row seated next to Sidney Toledano, President & CEO of Christian Dior, of course it was Marion Cotillard. Full Story

Nobu and well

On the day that MJ and Farrah Fawcett both passed, a series of celebrity hoax deaths made the rounds on the internet. So f-cking dumbass, right? Anyway Natalie Portman was one of them. Natalie, obviously, is fine. And was out last night in London with some friends, enjoying a 3 hour dinner at Nobu before emerging in a really cute checkered dress with heels and a blowout. Full Story

Jo so stylish!

Out for dinner tonight in London, in town for the big premiere tomorrow. What premiere? Of course you know what premiere. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the film adaptation of the 6th book in her brilliant 7 book series. There’s no doubt Jo will be there tomorrow night. But tonight a warm-up with her husband, in trendy heels and a little black dress, she is sexy and styling and who’s more badass than JK Rowling? No equal. Full Story

Marion & Mom

Paris premiere of Public Enemies yesterday. Christian Bale does not seem to be accompanying Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard on the European leg of promotion. They must not think they need him. Have you seen it yet? Most of you who have seen it have written to say that you love it. Good! It’s a movie featuring real actors and real acting. Full Story

Alicia would never

I love Alicia Keys. So much. It would kill me if she turned out to be a twat. I interviewed Alicia briefly at the Superbowl in 2008 in Phoenix. Michelle was producing. And I remember both of us, even though our loins were pointed in the direction of John Krasinski, both of us were totally girlcrushing on her. Full Story

Sandra in NY, Ryan in Toronto

Promoting their film The Proposal. Sandy taped an appearance for Letterman last night, pictured outside the theatre with a Cruella-ish blonde stripe – don’t like but whatever, it’s Sandy. She’s the best. And she had to work with the whiniest. That would be Ryan Reynolds who was in Toronto yesterday for an appearance on MuchMusic, smug foundation face fully intact. Full Story
