The outfit is good. It’s cute, it’s elegant, it’s her age, and she almost never, ever goes wrong in that respect. How can you find fault with what she’s wearing here? I love that it’s her first season as a proper red carpet girl and she’s making such refreshing style decisions, at once imaginative but not too offputtingly weird, and still in a way that very much establishes her own identity. I love this dress, this whole look on Naomi Watts. I don’t know that I’d love it on many others. Maybe Charlize Theron. But definitely not, say, Cameron Diaz. Or Zoe Saldana. And it’s not like those other ladies can’t pull off a dress. But there’s some old glamour that Naomi can bring to it, with the red lips and a certain, I don’t know, classic sophistication, and you’ll note it could easily be unflattering, all loose like that, and still she wears it not like a sequined sheet but like a proper gown with movement and shape. She is exquisite, this girl. Her face, in real life, it’s incredible. But the strangest red carpet choices, right? Certainly not generic and boring, which is good. But sometimes also straight up weird. Like this gown, very obviously haute couture, but half of it looks like denim, right? It’s not denim, of course not, but it looks like it’s denim accented by tulle. Full Article
